If you're heading out to Budleigh Salterton area and beach and hanging out for a decent espresso and something to eat, drive a bit further out a couple of miles to Otter Mill. Takeaway espresso gets served from the van outside in the carpark, but if you want a sit down meal, there's plenty of room for you. Very doggie friendly, but you can't take them into the gift shop or farm shop. If you feel the need to do some touristy shopping, there are plenty of gift ideas to choose from. Sit by the river if you want to get away from people. There's a bike rack to lock your bikes up if you've cycled there. I walked from Budleigh Salterton beach in about 40 minutes to Otter Mill. You won't find any decent coffee in Budleigh, so I would head here - it's peaceful and relaxing and makes your trip worthwhile

What a lovely cafe. The sandwiches were delicious. We chose the Brixham crab bap and a Prawn sandwich. The bread and roll/bap were a lovely texture, taste and crust on the bread. Once you’ve tried this bread you’ll be wondering what you been eating up until now. Great service too!The mill speaks for itself lovingly maintained an amazing piece of working history. Nice information and leaflets too. Just can’t wait to bake with the flour.

Why would a non bread eater go to a working mill? Otterton Mill is a family favourite when they visit. Despite not being able to eat bread the team here were amazing, happy to accommodate my fussinesss, great service, willingness to accommodate and with a smile. Thank you, I had the best breakfast, very tasty and enjoyed every mouthful

Having walked from the beach at Budleigh Salterton along the well tended footpath beside the utterly picture book beautiful River Otter - on a hot sunny day - finding Otterton Mill for a much needed cup of tea and cake for me and doggy snacks for my Springer Levi made the day a real treat. There is a Farmshop there full of local deliciousness to take home with you, and a cafe as well as a quick serve shepherd’s hut meaning you can go here for a wholesome meal too.Good sized car park for those coming in a vehicle. But even if you do - do take the time to cross the river and potter down the Otter.Among the delights to be enjoyed are signs of the resident beavers, big trout just hanging out on the gravel beds and numerous birds including many interesting wetland birds in the newly restored Lower Otter River Project.

Otterton is only a mile or so from the sea surrounded by rolling countryside and many walking paths or trails.Visited this flour mill, cafe, bakery, farm shop (with art gallery)5 times for lunch, tea and takeaway supper and to shop in the farm shop, in storm, flooding, rain and brilliant sunshine. We were staying in the Kings Arms pub/restaurant with rooms a short walk up the road. With its very large car park it is an ideal spot for serious and not so serious walkers. It’s a Devon dream most of us seek during our visits to the West Country.Within and alongside an ancient mill building and adjoining warm coloured outhouses the centuries old history is evident and inviting. It draws visitors into explore and be immersed.Everything; fine food, feel, friendly service, high standard range of products we found delightful. The fresh mackerel fillets were so delicious on a bed of warm potatoes and a small salad.., we were so enjoying this, along with other dishes, we had it on three days! The roast peppers soup had such a rich flavour. Etc etc etc.Recommended as a stop off or a place to visit perhaps along with a country walk.Apologies..we don’t have photos but there are many on the website.CH
