Nice atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. parking is convenient and easy. We had a table for 4 in December and ordered a range of dishes, tikka masala, lamb curry, vegetable curry etc. None of us were very impressed with the food. It was mediocre at best and lacked flavour. The vegetable curry was bland, lacked spices and seasoning and the consistency was gloopy. The tikka masala was very mild, and looked like Bolognese sauce, it tasted coconuty. We weren't very impressed with the food here and won't be returning. It wasn't bad food, but it wasn't good either.

Wow. Wow. Wow. It’s very rarely that I’m fully impressed by a restaurant, but Merchants of Spice on Yarmouth Rd went above and beyond. I ordered for a group of 7. Starters and mains, and also sides. Absolutely superb!!Their tandoori anything is always succulent and flavourful. However, the modest but powerful Tarka Daal was the star of the show! I even mixed some lime pickle on with it and that was an absolute game changer! You just have to try!The wait staff are exceedingly attentive without being intrusive. They even secretly stored a birthday cake for our table.Eat in or takeaway, they’re always superb! Can’t wait to go back and visit this new favourite!

As a converted pub this venue does not have the elegance of the Norwich City one, but the food is fantastic, thecstaff attentive but not intrusive. I was surprised to see how busy it was at 6pm on a Wednesday evening.Well worth a visit.

We were going to eat elsewhere but big delay on food. Rang to book table at Merchants but told busy so delays. We got there early as we had advised them only to find 75% of restaurant empty. Our table was ready so sat and ordered drinks. Staff attentive and helpful, food delicious and well presented. I thoroughly enjoyed my curry and I only have one about once a year. Tasty naan too.Shame we were nearly put off going due to being told difficulty getting a table when in fact there was plenty of space.Good value for money and four of us really enjoyed our food. Would we return....its a yes!!

Very slow service. The team seems to be busy in other works compared to attending the tables. We waited for almost 10-15 minutes to get our table cleaned post meal even when there was not much rush in the restaurant. The food was as average and has limited items to choose from. Not worth going again.

Really enjoyed a delicious meal here the atmosphere was good. The service excellent. My granddaughter had a special request. Dealt with it very well. Thanks to all involved for a very memorable evening we will definitely be back

Amazing!!!! Thank you to all the staff at the Merchant for an evening to remember! Booked a table of 9 for a 30th birthday celebration, service 10/10, food 10/10 & atmosphere 10/10! Will be back for sure, highly recommended for all occasions!

Good quality Indian food. The service on the whole was attentive, one member of staff did come across as rude. It was the end of the night, so he was probably just tired, but the sarcasm and attitude wasn't necessary.

Excellent service by the staff including Raihan. Booked online on Saturday 9th just a few hours before. They were very busy but we got a 5.30pm table. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Will return.

The food at Merchant of Spice 2 in Thorpe St Andrew is always exceptionally good, whether you’re eating in or picking up a takeaway. The service is second to none and the staff couldn’t be more helpful / attentive. It’s definitely worth a visit if you like Indian food.
