Cheadle Bridge

Nice bridge.

The bridge connects Cheadle village to Parrswood / Didsbury. There is a pavement only one side of the bridge. Crossing from one side to the other by foot can be dangerous, there is no pedestrian crossing on the bridge and cars tend to go much faster than the 30MPH speed limit!This is an old solid victorian bridge with steps to one side leading down to the river Mersey, which leads onto a pleasant walking path along the river towards Stockport, great for cycling, running, walking the dogs. The area has beautiful green scenery and wildlife! In the winter month, when the river bursts it's bank, the path becomes completely submerged.The main issues are with the river, below the bridge:1) the river isn't dredged regularly (hasn't been for years!!). When the river is low, we can see plenty of old tyres, trolleys and other rubbish.2) there is a sewage outlet in the Heaton Mersey area, not far from the bridge, which illegally pumps out untreated waste into the river all year round. Local businesses are also dumping dirty oily substance (petrol?) into the river...

Nice view towards Stockport. Interesting stone marking the original boundary between Lancashire and Cheshire in the centre.

Nice walk along mersy river.

A lovely old bridge that straddles the Mersey with views across the plain. There is a central stone marker at foot level. that denotes the old Lancashire Cheshire boundary.
