Ground Control Ltd

Having been responsible for a Ground Control contract, I find their business model to centre solely around cost, going in cheap to secure the contract and then trying to find ways deliver the contract for as little as possible, ignoring service & quality.They use so called Field Teams to deliver their works. (Which are in reality sub-contractors). These fields teams are hammered down on their costs, so much so I am surprised they turn up, never mind manage to operate as a business.Ground Controls Management Team, those above those on the ground, don't really care, their sole focus is cost, this impacts their whole operation and sets the tone for the business.Overall, I would say to anyone considering giving them a contract to think hard, and if it’s about lower costs, poor service, with no accountably then go for them. If you believe in service, quality, accountability then I would look elsewhere

I hadn't even heard of this company until I got woken up by one of their guys trimming hedges opposite my house at 6 in the morning. I phoned up to complain and the guy I spoke to was really apologetic and promised to get something done. I had someone try and get hold of me for the past couple of days since and not long had a call from the managing director to apologise and let me know that something had been done about it, all of this was unexpected. I think handled it very well and I appreciate them getting back to me because most people don't.

Avoid.Having worked for Ground Control both as a so-called Field Team (Which is nothing more than a word they use for a Sub-Contactor) and directly in a management role, I would advise client or contractor to avoid the company.Put aside the way they manage staff, H&S, contractors and customers, which is to say the least, questionable, unprincipled and inapt, their business model is built around getting contracts by under cutting their competitors, often at a loss to themselves, and with little understanding of how to deliver the contract, and then finding ways they can charge costs back to the client, often with questionable work requirements, and over inflated prices.

I have worked with Ground Control since 2012 and honestly cannot imagine working anywhere else. They put a lot of effort into their staffs personal development and mentoring. I have progressed so much since i started working here. Best thing about Ground Control is the people, and such a fantastic culture.

Absolutely awful company, with no leadership. Do not work with or for this company they have no respect for small independent company’s and use them to do the work they wish not to do and then delay payments and fail to pay the full amount, they have been the cause for many small business’ to go bust. They will also send you to sites that have no been properly organised and are not able to carry out the work and then will refuse to pay you for that day or even the travel also. I can not express my anger towards the way they treat people enough. Please stay clear of this company

Completely rude staff who decided to knock on my door early in the morning and threaten to scratch up my car if I didn't move it with 0 notice given. They have a complete disregard for all those in the area of their works giving no notice when intruding on neighbouring land, causing noise and insulting local residents when we don't bow down to their expectations. Moreover who passed the health and safety checks to block access to three flats with scaffolding without even bothering to warn residents or ask about their accessibility needs.Vile and disgusting company.

We never had a problem with the company until about 3 weeks before we moved out. The gardeners always had to borrow a key for access to the back yard, because they lost their set of keys. Unfortunately for us, they managed lose ours as well. No big deal I thought, it happens.Problem was I had to get all of my locks replaced because of this, which cost me £450. I got in contact with the company asking for some compensation, as this was hardly my fault.That was over 3 months ago! Every person that I have spoken to has been either unhelpful or just plain rude. The answer I got the most was: Sorry not my job

If I could give 0 starts I would, the grounds maintenance work done by ground control is shocking. They leave the area more of a mess after they leave.Saying they have COMPLETED.Hard standing: sweeping.When they clearly blown all the leaves back onto the grass after mowing the grass on a high setting when it doesn’t even look like it’s been cut.Awful and lazy work.

Another terrible company L&Q waste your service charge on. I am a trained gardener and landscaped our communal gardens at my own cost. Your lot turn up and leave everything a mess and apparently it cost £6000! Something stinks here.

I have worked at Ground Control for over 15 years and have always been treated well with investment made in regards to training/courses. The company is very forward thinking and has expanded/grown during my time with the business which is great to see, providing new opportunities and keen to promote from within as well as bring in new employees for a fresh approach. The direction now is one of caring for the environment" and one they take very seriously with ambitious plans in regards to tree planting."
