If I could leave 0 stars I would. Purchased a filter and a pump from this place a few days ago, with being told if I had any problems I could bring back. Anyway, turns out I purchased the wrong items (even though they advised these items would be efficient enough) taken them back (unopened) to be given bad attitude and spoken to like I was stupid to have purchased them in the first place! An argument took place as I don't like to be spoken to in that manner so admittedly I spoke to her in the same manner. After this argument I have been refused my money back. The old lady who owns the shop is vile, rude and has no customer service skills whatsoever. What a shocking establishment this place is. And after reading other reviews on this place it's pretty clear that the old lady is incable of her job or actually speaking to people like there human. Will never return again!

If 0 stars was an option I'd choose that, very rude owner, Makes miss trunchbull look like Mary Poppins, bought fish from here and out of the 8 I bought only 3 survived, I complained to the owner only to be told it is my problem and always a gamble when buying fish, I went to look at the fish room and the fish in the tank I got mine from were now looking sick. The birds don't look much better.disgusting and very very rude

Knowledgeable staff, very reasonable prices, good selection of cold water fish. Bought 6 goldfish for our garden pond.

I don't live in pendle anymore but whenever I'm over that way I always try to make a special visit as the selection and price of fish is brilliant (That's coming from someone who works in the trade).. I have been a couple of times where certain fish have had whitespot for instance but I just avoid those..Although on my last visit one of the ladies did suggest I didn't take home a variant of Swordtails because she wasn't happy with them so I'm sure they wouldn't knowingly sell a sick fish. They also ask me every time I go to buy larger or slightly more predatory fish like Butterfly fish that I know how big they will get etc. Which is refreshing!Yes the other animal sections don't always look great but I'm yet to find a pet shop where they do.. so my review is solely based on the fish section.

Lovely shop. The young lad is extremely helpful and is very knowledgeable about the fish. Bought some lovely fish and they have settled in well. I would certainly shop there again. Thank you

I don’t really know where to start? I suppose am a tourist? Looking to move to Burnley and given this experience am not sure.I spoke to a woman who I presume is the owner of what I can only describe as a ‘sham’ of a pet shop, I believe her name is ‘Kay’, I have never come across a more Vile woman!I think my mistake is I said I was not buying anything that day but looking for the future and from that moment was treated like an unwelcome insect!Never mind the poorly livestock, the owner is poorly that’s for sure!

Wow this store has been here for some years now, so they must be doing something right, not as modern as some other stores no uniformed staff, onsite vet or grooming areas some of the modern pet shop seem to have.Shop is adequate and seem to have plenty of stock and variety. The animals seem to be in clean cages and appeared well, aquarium tanks seemed clean and fish appear to be healthy.Overall OK old school pet shop.Loved the resident parrot.Birds, rabbits mice, rats, fish, hamsters. They have the lot.

Went here the other day for a conure. The shop looks great and so do the animals. Plenty of stock to choose from and some really good prices. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back

Absolutely shocking service. Bought a filter and pump for goldfish and was told if they weren't right I could return them, when I tried the old woman was very rude and refused to refund my money as they were electrical items (sure currys don't say that) one of the items I hadn't even took out of the box, she then said report us to trading standards then (in process) this to me is theft now, if my item isn't correct then I should be able to get my money back, will never use again

My Honest Opinion!I have read over a lot of reviews prior to posting my own, this is what has prompted me to share my opinion if I’m honest. This shop has been here for many, many years! as a child I would go in with my mum to look around on a Saturday after popping in to town as did many others.I’m now 35 years old with my own children and we do exactly the same. The shop is still in the same place, the lay out is the same as it was back then and the owner is still the same lady. This shop has been part of Burnley’s community for many years and has services many generations of pet lovers and enthusiasts. The “old lady” as other have described her in other reviews is called Kay. I will admit at first she may come across a little abrasive and so may some of the other staff for that matter but I can guarantee they are some of the most knowledgeable and nicest people in the business locally in my opinion. And yes I know what you’re thinking! First impressions matter especially in business and customer service, the browser of today is the potential customer of tomorrow. Here’s a little tip - know what you are going in for in advance especially when it comes to pets! do your homework prior to your visit as you would if you was buying a car.If you go on blind let’s be honest it doesn’t really show your desire to keep a specific pet. The comment “I would like a fish, what would you recommend” isn’t a helpful question really! Check out there fish room and you will understand why.If you ask the right questions and show some enthusiasm the staff at this shop will give you as much time and information as you need to help you make the right choices. .They have an array of stock for all pets with a huge section on aquatic hardware and aquatic life stock. They have a vast array of fish which I know some are selectively imported and others breed in house or supplied by a local breeder. The prices are very competitive compared to other stores within the area! for example without using other stores names.A well established juvenile Green Phantom PlecoWaterlife & Pets £50Other local establishment £120I have had many fish from this store and never had a problem and always been extremely happy. As for dead fish being left in the tanks for weeks as per one of the previous reviews! I’m sorry but that is just compleat rubbish! Unfortunately on occasions life stock dies, and things do go wrong! that’s the nature of the trade and hobby, but suggesting they are not removed for weeks is just stupidity.I have purchased lots of hardware for my tanks from this shop and have never been sold anything I don’t need or upsold! As for pricing of hardware, in general I find them to be a few pounds more expensive than Amazon which i don’t personally have a problem with as I can walk away with what I need on the same day plus bags of advice around the product I have purchased. Most importantly the advice and knowledge gained from the staff has been extremely helpful on my aquatic adventure and as a novice very much appreciated. And finally because we are the customer it doesn’t mean we are entitled! Be nice, be patient and be understanding and you will leave with a good product and a wealth of information. This is a busy shop and remember the saying! never work with children or animals! These guys do both day in, day out so cut them some slack. It’s not an easy job to do well especially when you’ve got customers children rattling the parrot cage and tapping at the fish tanks. And finally, finally! Kay the fact your business is still thriving and is as popular as it was when I was a child is testament to you and your devotion to what you do! Keep up the wonderful work and know it’s appreciated.
