I started learning to row with TopRow in March 2023, and now I'm still in it.I started from scratch, with no previous rowing experience, or really doing that much exercise and the course was perfectly suited. After some technical basics in the gym, we were on the water on the first day and have been every week since, whether it's 1ºC and raining or 25ºC and sweltering.We usually have the same coach every week, though they have changed between the different courses from sweeping to sculling and the more advanced ones. They do a great job allowing us to focus on our technique, learn how to do it the right way first and not get distracted by other boat things. They are all very open to questions and flexible in what we want to focus on in a lesson, tailoring each lesson to the boat.When I had to miss lessons, they usually found a spot for me on another day/in another boat to make up for it.There have been 2 socials since I joined, both in the bar of the London Rowing Club which have been good to mingle, and I started to befriend my crew" from the lessons for the occasional post-row-pint.The coaches also mostly row in the local clubs and are knowledgeable around the local rowing scene if people want to branch out from L2R

I recently completed the 8 week development course having done the beginners earlier this year. I loved every minute of it and I plan to do the experienced course in the spring. I rowed with people half my age and it was never a problem as the instructors are really helpful and friendly. Rowing on the Thames is very relaxing as well as addictive!

I found the Top Row courses a great way to learn/improve technique. The young coaches are enthusiastic and know their stuff. There's an everyone welcome ethos. You are in very small groups, no more than four. The boats are much wider and more stable than fine boats so you're not worried about capsizing plus you are given wellies so you don't need to bring loads of kit. This stretch of water near Putney is beautiful. I did 7.30pm sessions, great for sunsets in summer, fun with lights when it gets darker. The financial commitment up front means you get there. Many people use it to try the sport before going on to clubs and fine boats. I think it works well for this. I personally used it as a stand-alone to be out on the water regularly without the time/training a club would entail. Coaches will give you tips on what you can do in the gym outside of the session too. Catch-up sessions are offered but not always possible so I recommend choosing the day you're most likely to make and blocking out the 8 sessions. Continuity definitely helps.

Such a great place to learn with really fun, chilled and dedicated coaches, Freddie, Matilda and Ben in particular! I absolutely loved my time learning here, so much so I've joined a club to start rowing competitively! Thanks so much guys!!

I have really enjoyed getting back into rowing after a rather long break! TopRow has a very good set up and times that are convenient for me (i.e. after school drop-off). We row on a lovely stretch of river. I have recommended the courses to many friends.

Bad communication nobody replies nor calls nor emails barely. Made me come at 9aclock nobody opened the door waited till 9:35 still nobody.. try to call no reply email was replied late evening stating that I missed the group which was not true nobody was there nobody opened the door I saw all the boats piled up.. I asked them for refund been chasing them but still no reply.. I choice this place bcoz of some good review but I had bad experience.. I m still waiting for their reply plus refund
