The Palm House
Lovely team who led us to an outside seating area. Vegetarian, gluten free and standard menus given out. So much choice from savoury to sweet. The waffles and crepes were excellent as was the sandwiches etc. Afterwards, we went for a walk around the lakes and RSPB centre.

What a lovely hidden gem ! We stumbled across the Palm House on a walk and it was lovely ! The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The shop inside was also really nice, the dogs loved it. Would recommend to all !!

Saw this place has great reviews and a great play area for children so was looking forward to go somewhere were we can eat and chill out.To be honest, not somewhere I would be happy to return to. The conditions was dirty, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while, the tables not been cleared, so ended up clearing them ourselves and wiping the tables down, the floor in the children’s play area was filthy and a staff member spilled milk over one of the stools and carpet and only used one blue cloth to clean it when a carpet cleaner would be needed to prevent the growth of bacteria and smell. The food was okay, I ordered a panini that either came with crisps or a salad so I choose the salad but all I received was a couple of leaves, a slice of cucumber, a plum tomato and one red onion ring. Not the salad I thought I’d be getting especially with the price you pay.The staff I interacted with were lovely but someone needs to go around and keep on top of the cleaning and clearing of the tables ready for the next group of customers. If it is busy, which on this particular day it wasn’t, then I think staffing levels needs to be evaluated to ensure basic health and hygiene are being addressed.I’m reading the rest of the reviews and if you are rating this place lower than a 5 star (which it has the potential to be), you will receive an aggressive, defensive reply. Whoever is responding to these reviews needs to be sacked or at least go on a training course on how to take in feedback and respond professionally. Businesses learn from the criticism and always ask for feedback on how to do better but I bet if someone was to talk to the manager or owner of this place, it would go in one ear and out the other. To sum up, by all means, go and have a visit and if you have a great experience then you have caught them on a good day but just be cautious that this high standard they believe they hold isn’t every day.

Great place to relax in and catch up with family and friends while the children play safely. A great array of food on offer from cooked breakfast to homemade cakes

The Palm House
Visited today and the place was dirty and smelled really bad. The food was not to standard expected and the staff just wasn’t tidy around. Kids play area was dirty and I attempt at tidying or cleaning of tables. We had to clean our own table as staff just told us they was too busy. There was less than 20 people here!!! Allowing what seemed to be a homeless man eat in the restaurant was nice to see, but considerations to other customers needs to be considered. The man had a very potent smell which was off putting and made the entire place smell. Which just added to the poor service and overall bad experience.

Could be great, but the play area is filthy. We had great drinks, and cake. The food options are fab, and it could be an awesome place for families and little ones as the space and toy selection are good and it feels safe with a nice layout. But the play area seats, floor and toys don't seem to have been cleaned for a long time. Such as shame. Hopefully this can be taken as a constructive comment. Do a deep clean and make sure everything is cleaned once a day. Love to come back if this is done.

Today we visited and I ordered omelette it was very dry and no filling. The staff was untidy and when delivering our drinks to the table they never used a tray, it was slopping over the sides and was plonked on the table. The children's area was dirty food stuck around the table corners and crumbs all over the seats, considering we were in there early there was no sign of a clean table, the floor was dirty and you could see all the crumbs inside the gaps of the tiles, there was no way that floor has been hoovered in a long time! They need to change there ways! Will never visit again. Avoid at all costs.

The pancakes are generally pretty good, the service is normally slow in comparison to some other places, I tried the burger today, you could comfortably knock someone out with how stale the bun is, I’ve had 3 days past made rustlers burgers that have been infinitely better than the sad excuse I was served and I was charged £8 for the lesson. The service is generally pretty slow, no check ins on food delivery of food and drinks is pretty slow but I feel that’s more of a being under staffed issue as lunchtime on a payday Saturday there’s usually only 3 people working. The atmosphere is usually pretty good, no aircon but decent airflow through the several windows in the dining play area. There is no staff supervising kids so they’re still your responsibility, not really an issue but something to note for someone who might not know.I might come back as my daughter enjoys the play area but will be staying clear of the food if I do.
