The Grosvenor Museum
An astonishing museum that tells no small amount of Chester's history. The Ancient Roman exhibits are vast and come highly recommended!

A small, but informative museum with an impressive collection. I highly recommend a visit if you are interested in Roman era stones and altars as there is a large collection here from the city. The staff are friendly and passionate about the heritage that they are stewards of. I really picked up on their sense of pride.Entrance is free, but they do rely on donations. We vety much enjoyed our visit.

Old-fashioned museum in terms of many displays and some exhibits but it’s free. The Roman tombstone exhibit is fascinating, with clear explanations of the designs and carvings on the stones. I also enjoyed the house museum at the back, although the floor arrangement is confusing, as it’s not in chronological order. Spent about an hour.

Good museum in the centre of Chester.Medium in size, takes about 1 to 2 hours to get round, displaying lots of the history of Chester including Roman times etcDefinitely worth a visit.Free entry but they more than welcome donations. No parking, so park on town car parks where signed. Small gift shop, toilets on site.

A very nice, original building in Chester. Made to a be a museum in the 1880's, the building itself is nearly as interesting as its contents.

When the teenager asks to go to the museum to have a look round as soon as she got off the train instead of the park. If that's what the teenager wants then not arguing with her as it kept her off her electronics whilst learning new things.

Had a visit to the Grosvenor Museum - great selection of Roman finds on the ground floor and enjoyed the displays on offer in the historical home towards the back of the museum. The museum has wheelchair lifts at the front and back entrances, but unfortunately there's no lift within the building itself, meaning those with access issues will be limited to some areas

Really interesting mixture of items ranging from roman to natural history, mostly covering the history of the Chester area. Learnt so much about the city. Bigger than I thought and can easily spend over an hour there. The building itself is also beautiful. Free entry too.
