The Salcombe-Kingsbridge Estuary is tidal up as far as Kingsbridge, the bridging point five miles inland. Like the other estuaries of South Devon, the original deep river valley has been inundated by later sea level rise, with the tide flooding in to create a wide expanse of water.

Loved the ferry boat ride from Kingsbridge to Salcombe. The Captain was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. Beautiful views. The schedule is posted online and at the pick up points. There are restaurants, cafes and restrooms nearby to the pick up. Salcombe is a beautiful place to get dropped off for lunch or shopping and you can come back by bus, taxi or ferry.

A lovely quiet place to stay overnight in your boat quiet and peaceful also sheltered in windy weather. Stunning in sunny weather.
