The hotel is unable to check in. The attitude is bad. We didn't check in, but we didn't get a refund. The facilities are old and poor. There are no front desk or staff, and there are no hotel service staff. It's not considered a hotel at all. The service is very poor, and I'm very unhappy

Popped in or food, when lasagne arrived it was cold. They fetched another which I was grateful for. As she explained she was sorry, and the chef had put extra cheese which turned out to be cheese slices. They did refund the drinks but all in all really disappointed. The waitress was exceptionaly nice just a shame about the food.

We visited while staying at a nearby Travelodge. We found the service to be delightful and the food scrumptious. It was ready quickly too. It was under new management they had only reopened recently.

Room was cold. Skirting boards dirty. No toilet roll in the shared toilet. Hard to get in after closing time because the lock sticks. No one on premises after closing time to speak to. The bedding was clean - the only saving grace.

The Queens Head is a great find for those on a budget and who don't mind sharing a bathroom. My room was Spartan, but comfy and clean. A small desk would have been helpful, but sitting downstairs in the restaurant or pub was an option. Other guests told me they smuggled tables from the restaurant to their rooms.Worth noting, the restaurant is not open for breakfast on weekdays, which I didn't know, ahead of time.Staff were pleasant, and the pub crowd wasn't rambunctious or too noisy. The communal bathroom was a little rough, and not terribly clean, along with the washing machine. For a work trip on a budget, I would consider staying again, but would try to get a room with desk.

Stopped her for the first time on the 5th August. Going to Newcastle for the game so used it as a base and trained into Newcastle. Room was fine with Tea and Coffee available, not en-suite but i believe they are available. Bar service was excellent and staff were happy and pleasant. Decent pint ant reasonable prices. Booked in again on the 27th August and will definitely use in future if they have availability. Oh and it's very close to the A1 motorway for easy access.

The accommodation seems to be student accommodation from what I can gather, the room is grim, the carpet is soiled and the sink is inside the bedroom. There is a makeshift pole on the wall to be used as a wardrobe.I asked for an iron and ironing board and was told they are in the shared kitchen facility and must not be removed to my room.I'm 55 year old that doesn't want to live like a student.I will be expected to give the best of me to the learners this week. Staying in sub par accommodation will most definitely have a knock on effect to the delivery of the course as it's already put me into a negative state of mind.I have just driven 3.5 hours to get here and simply wanted to unwind to prepare for the course tomorrow. There will be no unwinding done tonight.I am only sorry that the pictures attached don't come with the scent of the room attached. It smells musty. If it wasn't for the fact that I would be billed for the cost of the course I would simply turn around and drive back home.To say I am not pleased with the level of accommodation would be a massive understatement.Almost forgot, there was an outstanding amount of £0.01p on the room which I paid. I'm my humble opinion I was overcharged.

You absolutely get what you pay for but there are no real complaints to be made for the price. I paid £40 a night for a single room with shared bathroom over the weekend, when there were end of term and university open day events and everywhere was very expensive. The shared bathroom was clean and rarely occupied, kitchenette with everything you'd need and the bed was clean, but the floor could have done with a more thorough hoover and surfaces needed dusting. One gripe was pub customers smoking outside the front on a Friday night, so the noise and smell came up through the window, and very loud road noise but nothing Earplugs can't help.I felt safe as a solo female traveller and its an easy walk or bus into Durham.

I must say, this is the most dreadful accommodation I've ever encountered. The room is not only small but also reeks of a stale odor I find myself wishing to forget. Contrary to the advertised private bathroom
