Southern Polegate Station Car Park

If not familiar with the area you may not appreciate that there are 2 car parks immediately adjacent to the station, and the station car park is poorly signposted and furthest away. You may then find yourself, as I was, paying to park but being parked in the wrong car park, and getting fined for your trouble. Take care therefore and my advice is to avoid the area altogether as they seem more concerned with extracting money than welcoming visitors.

Difficult to pay for parking. Indigo parking are notorious for overcharging, fining and making it difficult to pay for parking. Watch out, they're undergoing a re-brand too.

Ok for staying there free for 2 hours

Just next to this car park is one that allows free parking for 2 1/2 hours. There are always spaces available. Polegate High Street is a few yards away. The nearby Coop is open until 10pm each evening and has a good selection.

This car park is a scam!It has sign posting to make you think you can pay after you get on the train, but when you try to pay online it tells you the car park is full even though there are lots of spaces.You cannot now move your car as you have gone into London on the train!This has been done deliberately to trap people!Local council, trading standards and Network rail need to get themselves together and stop these awful companies ripping off the British public. Avoid these crooks at all costs!

Do not use this car park. Payment has to be made by phone, a long, tortuous process (if you can get through at all). And if you do, and eventually hear an automated voice saying your payment has been successful DO NOT BELIEVE IT. This happened to us when we parked here to cycle the Cuckoo Trail and we got a PCN from 'Civil Enforcement Ltd' in the post a week later. Apparently you have successfully paid" doesn't mean that at all. I am appealing. Just don't risk it. Just don't park here."

Tight and narrow car-park with limited spaces. Often very busy. Also be aware - Indigo, the company who manages the car park will fine you at any given opportunity.

This car park is just a money spinner for a private enterprise. Network Rail need to get a grip and sort this car park out with clear markings on the tarmac itself! Hopefully unlike me, some people will read these reviews and make sure they park in the correct area which is unclear, so to avoid the parking fine issued by Civil Enforcement for parking in the wrong part of the car park..... beware they are a faceless entity so any appeal is pointless!! Wealden Council should also visit this company and ask why they are deliberately ripping off commuters by not making it clear which parts of the car park belong to them and not Network Rail. Times are hard enough without being ripped off by malicious parking fines, issued by companies who hide behind an enforcement agency!!!!

I will not be parking or using polegate station ever again. I was unaware that there were two separate car parks in the station as I paid online for the other car park I even looked at the parking instructions that were sent to me through my email it never stated that they was another car park literally next to it that would be a great to have that information in that section so people that unaware of that would then have the knowledge to make sure they are parking in the correct area. But they won’t do this as it another way to get money out of us hard working people. I would avoid this train station at all cost say yourself from getting fined £100.
