Food was delicious, starter lovely, curry on par- very tasty; however, meat to both dishes was overcooked.Service: cannot fault, attentive in all the right places. Gave enough time between courses and offered refreshments in-between. Even offered a night cap on the house.Atmosphere: cosy, warm, authentic, lights dimmed, music good

Absolutely fantastic, the service was great from the moment we walked through the door, we hadn't booked and they happily stated us, the food was amazing and I would easily say one of the best Indian meals I have had, amazing.

Went for a small lunch. Had 4 vegetable side dishes, plus chapatis. All food was freshly cooked, minimal oil/ghee, and very tasty. Very good.

Portion size was good, service was okay, but it didnt taste like authentic Indian. Chef needs to work more on the curries for chicken and veg. It lacked the spices and for some reason there was absolutely neglible salt in the items. Ambience was okay and so was food presentation. Need to do better on the bread also.

Ordered takeaway as this restaurant used to be a favourite, but never again!!!The food resembled more of an Italian pasta sauce than it did a curry and that's being nice.. the butter chicken tasted like a famous brand tomato soup and the madras, had two flavours tomato passata and spice, no depth to it at all. If you want an ambundance of meat with your curry dont go here.... there was 5 small chunks of chicken (which isnt even one chicken breast)!!! The naans were undercooked and doughy. Very disappointing to say the least, considering the full meal Is very expensive, with each curry itself costing close to 11quid each!avoid at all costs!

We were visiting York on Halloween weekend and was really pleased to have booked a table here. They have a big menu and a great selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The food was very good and superbly prepared. The lamb dish was so well cooked, the meat was tender and full of flavors. The vegetable dish was very tasty and of good potion. The two naans were very good too. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable, and service was very good. We saw lots of ppl coming for takeaway too, so would recommend this if you are in the area and fancy a good curry.

Lovely experience - booked a table in advance and we had the place pretty much to ourselves which was nice. Service was spot on from the moment we got in. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy and they were so accommodating, kneeling down next do us to walk her through the menu saying what she can/can’t have. Food was perfect, exactly what you would want from an Indian! Will definitely be coming back

Bombay Spice
Bombay Spice is one of the best Indian Restaurants in York. This was our first time here and will not be our last. From the food to the service to the decor. It was a truly exceptional evening. Highly, highly recommended.For starters we had Onion Bhaji and Chicken Chatt. For main we had Chicken Balti and Lamb Jalfrezi with Pilau Rice and Garlic Naan.
