Great place for walking in the Pennines. Very close to the Pennine way path. We did High Cup Nick. Our group block booked the hostel which is why I can't rate service. However the dining room/lounge ws very comfortable especially with an open fire.

Stayed for one night. Good, basic hostel with shower in room but no toilet in room. Small self catering kitchen, which was okay but imagine can get crowded when the hostel is busy. Perfect base for our very soggy walk up Cross Fell!

Excellent value, and a private room to ourselves. A great place to stay to explore the Eden Valley. Don't miss High Cup Nick.

Simon and John were extremely helpful and welcoming and friendly. The rooms and showers were very clean, beds were very comfortable and clean bedding. There was plenty of breakfast which was very nice. Very good value for money.

I stayed here for two nights during my hiking trip in Northern England in October. Even though there were max. 3 guests, Simon did a wonderful job on making everybody feel welcome and provided us with anything we needed. Rooms are cosy, beds are comfortable for YHA standards and the common room's even got a fireplace. Good and very affordable starting point for hiking trips.

Great place to stay! We where walking the Pennine Way and we came over High Cup Nick (photo) from Middleton in Teesfdale. We arrived after 08:00 p.m. in Dufton with no reservation. We got a sleeping good room for ourselfes an the cook made us meal although it was quite late. Thanks again for your warm welcome and de good stay in your Youth Hostel.

An outstanding destination, clean quiet rooms, comfy beds & friendly staff. 30s from a gastro pub & on the edge of the Pennines. A definite repeat trip is needed.

Just got back from a school residential and it did not disappoint. Simon and Alistair are absolutely brilliant with children and made us feel like we were at home. The food is amazing and the location is perfect. The rooms are very comparable and have everything needed. Hope to be back soon both with the school and with family. Well done guys you have 25 very happy people.
