I ran out of a hard-to-obtain medication and came here in search of more. Both the inpatient and outpatient pharmacists here were fantastic, and went above and beyond to make sure I left with a refill. I want to extend a particular thank you to the pharmacist Charlotte.

The nurses at PAU ward are out of this world, the service and care they provide is so attentive towards the patient. They are always smiling and putting you at ease as a regular on this ward you become to know the nurses very well who builds up a great relationship with. They start to know you on a personal level and take away the stress of being in a hospital putting yourself at ease.

I have been a patient of Hammersmith Hospital for the past 32 years. The Rheumatology department is excellent and has lifted me up through my various flare ups. All the Consultants and the Rheumatology Nurses are excellent, kind and caring.Unfortunately the Phlebotomy dept has never really improved. Of the 75 odd blood tests that l’ve probably had in 32 years only 20 were carried out by staff, who l would consider had some people skills. Yesterday was a classic example. Staff who do not possess empathy or curtesy should not be working in such a profession. We all get tired & frustrated, but must learn the art of being professional and respectful to all patients and have a willingness to help. This is clearly a training issue. Maybe they can be trained by the lady volunteer nearby who was working hard to help Patients in any way she could. My thanks to her!

I had a quick and efficient experience at Hammersmith hospital. Paid parking was available and there were a few buses that can take you right in front of the hospital.Signage was good and everything was easy to find.A few cafes with plenty of toilets inside. My appointment was perfectly on time. I didn’t have to wait and the doctor and nurses were knowledgable. I was happy with the experience.

I have been an outpatient in this Hospital for years and I always found the care I received really good, until today.I attended the Imaging Department for a Heart Profusion MRI - MRI performed while the heart is under stress - and in order to record the images I needed to get two solutions IV : adrenaline and a nuclear dye. The scan lasts for over one hour and I contacted the hospital a month prior to my appointment to ensure I was fully prepared for the procedure. Due to the nature of the test one cannot be sedated and being an anxious person I resolved to use some numbing cream for the cannulations and hope for the best.I arrived almost one hour prior to my appointment and I reported to Reception to fill a medical questionnaire. This is not my first rodeo and contrary to what people think I am not an idiot.I was met by a nice, friendly staff named Shanty and I was asked to change into a gown and prepare for the test.I mentioned I needed the numbing cream and after she left the room to enquire she come back to inform me that I had to put it on myself which I did. Numbing cream shrinks blood vessels so it is normally a good idea for the Nurse to check the veins in both arm and hands and decide what vein is more suitable depending on what needles are used as they are different in sizes: arms can be better than hands for some patients but in my case the veins in my hands are normally better for use by Clinicians as they are extremely visible and skin deep. The Nurse attitude was off putting from the moment she walked in and I had the feeling that things were going to be difficult but I need to have the MRI and I was there with the best intentions.Numbing cream takes a while to work but the Nurse didn't care much and she proceeded to insert a 22g cannula in my right hand, unsuccessfully as she pierced the vein and caused a lump on the back of my hand. I wasn't looking but I felt the pain and the needle was uncomfortable. She still proceeded to secure the cannula with some adhesive tape but the blood was coming out so she removed the needle and said she would get back to it.On the left hand the pain was even worse and she said she failed again ( she inserted the needle right by the wrist bone and another lump developed) and her awkwardness made me more and more concerned. At this point I was doubting about her abilities as a Phlebotomist and I asked how many attempts she was going to make because I know that after a failure - in this case two - she needed my permission to proceed and her answer was that it is at the patient's discretion and my discretion was that she was not capable to insert the cannula! I didn't tell her that point blank but I said I wasn't prepared to let her try again and she left the room and send in a male colleague thinking I was obviously a masochistic person and I was willing to become a colander? My hands were bruising already and I had pins and needles in my fingers which is not what you expect but the second Nurse answer was : It happens that someone struggles with needles " well
