My 6 year old son has struggled with anxiety and controlling his emotions. Aikido Shoshinkan has given him a huge confidence boost, and I have seen a big change in him over the past 6 months. I highly recommend this activity.

What an amazing family. From day one here I was welcomed with open arms as part of the family, never having to earn my place unlike other clubs I had been to elsewhere. On the mat, there is a strong aikido spirit and etiquette, with the chance for everyone to train together regardless of current belt. The sensei here, are very good at been able to encourage you to leave your comfort zone and grow while making sure you can do so in a very safe way. It has so rapidly increased my fitness too while been there.

My son was struggling with anxiety and confidence issues before joining Aikido Shoshinkan and so, I was a little apprehensive, however since joining there has been an immeasurable difference in him both personally and socially and he is now looking forward to working towards new belts and the summer camp! Tadashi and Rowan are amazing at what they do and have really encouraged my son to fulfil his potential. Highly recommended!!!

My five-year-old son has been attending Aikido Shoshinkan (West Bridgford dojo) for just over two months. The class is attended by children of mixed ages and at different levels of their practice. All children have been very welcoming, it’s great to see the older ones being very patient and encouraging towards the younger ones. The instruction is excellent. The class is structured to nurture participation and collaboration. Importantly, children are also reminded to take care of each other while practising the techniques. The children are taught not only how to defend themselves, but also how to remain calm, focused and the importance of respect. The class ends with a group game which my son enjoys immensely.Overall, I highly recommend this class. It is a wonderful way for kids to develop physical strength, mental focus, and emotional intelligence in a safe and supportive environment.

With both of my boys currently attending Sensei Tad's Junior Aikido class and thoroughly enjoying it, I can absolutely recommend others to give it a go. They have both enjoyed being part of a close knit, fun loving club which promotes self improvement and discipline in a positive way. Sensei Tad's support and commitment to the children is second to none and the club plays a very important role in their happiness and education. Everyone should get involved and be part of this great class.

My 3 boys have been training aikido under sensei Tad for about 2 years now. They have grown massively in confidence and fitness. The club and other students are very friendly and my boys have made many friends. They also have an annual aikido summer camp which is always so much fun.Aikido seems like something they will stick with for many years to come.

I was made to feel welcome from the very first contact with Sensei Tad.I go to the Dojo as often as I can and I can't stop thinking about the new things I'm learning, the wonderful souls I've met and, though I'm not chasing the next belt, I am looking forward to my next grading and representing the school with what I've learnt. The discipline I get, from learning here, is good for my overall health. I'm sure my focus and concentration have improved - my happiness certainly has.I have the upmost respect for my teachers - I can tell they 'live' Aikido, which for me, is the greatest qualification.I'm glad to be in a place where I can gain skills, stamina, strength, flexibility, a martial art, greater personal power and make friends. I've made great friends here.I came for the outlet and I'm getting so much more! The age range is phenomenal and is testament to the school's inclusivity.I started less than a year ago, at age 51 - I've yet to check to see if I'm the oldest. Even so, it doesn't really matter because, I'm learning flip falls! If you've always wanted to try a martial art, then I can't recommend Akido Shoshinkan enough. It's the place where we work hard and play hard.I'd defy anyone not to love it.Osu!

My child loves having lessons here. Everybody in the room is friendly and discipline. Aim at training the mind and the physical body as well as protecting and helping people around. Osu.

I had first joined the Aikido classes here in November 2015 as a way to continue my Aikido training which I had begun in the club's sister brunch in Malaysia. Since joining the classes here, I can feel an improvement in my grasp of the basic techniques. Not only is Sensei Tad very knowledgeable and friendly, he is also very patient and encouraging especially when I have difficulty picking up new techniques. The atmosphere while training is also encouraging as everyone strives to help one another. In addition, this dojo is a great place to train.

When I relocated to nottinghamshire I wanted to find a dojo where my son could practise Aikido. As an ex Aikido practitioner I knew what I was looking for. After thorough search I found Shoshinkan Aikido led by Tadashi Narita sensei and was fascinated about the traditional way of the teaching. If you're looking to practise traditional Japanese Aikido this is a place for you.
