The Colonnade Bar
I love this bar so much. From the many acting headshots of actors through the ages to the theatrical style decor, I've had many a good evening in here. Being next door to the theatre it can surge in busy crowds before performances, during intervals and afterwards, but otherwise it's always a welcome atmosphere that we always find a table in.

When you wait in anticipation of a magical bar being reopened and you got in and it's had the heart and soul ripped out and stamped on.... Congratulations to whoever thought this was a good idea

Really cosy, old fashioned bar. Next door to Theatre Royal in Brighton. The Colonnade reflects the 200 year old theatre's Grade II listed atmosphere. The Place To Go before, after, and in between performances at the theatre. Customers are even kept aware by staff as to when the show begins.

JULY 2023: CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO REFURBISHMENT.A truly lovely bar full of ambience. Extremelyrelaxing with a great variety of drinks. The gin selection is particularly good. Next door to the Theatre Royal it is a great place to have drinks before a show but also a lovely place to just relax. Many performers usually have a drink in this bar at the end of their performance so many famous actors from TV and movies have visited here.

Pub has reopened and since closed again? When I went while it was open it was a soulless shell of the original pub. No good vibes just stale atmosphere and an illogical amount of Brighton Gin behind the bar, is this a failed sponsorship deal? No decor, lights so bright it feels like a train station Wetherspoons. Have since attempted to return, no luck as it seems the one week they opened under theatre management they ran it into the ground. RIP original colly.

Dull as dishwater. What on earth have the owners done. They took something that was the heart and soul of Brighton and sucked all the personality out of it. Now it's just a bland box pretending to be something it used to be. The George Lazenby Bond of pubs. Avoid, go somewhere else, support real local businesses.

Little gem of a bar. We popped in before a show at the Theatre Royal and didn't realise it was a gin bar, we were not at all disappointed. Great selection of gins, excellent table service and our server was amazing, she even recommended we pop back during interval as it would be quicker to get a drink and cheaper, so we did! We live in Brighton so will be back .

Oh no, what have they done to this (formerly) wonderful gem of a pub! Popped in last night and my heart sank. Soul has been ripped out of it. Now feels like a student union rather than an historic cozy boozer. All the real ale pumps have been removed too. How can you have such a treasure and then think doing what they’ve done to it is a good idea!! Gutted!
