Wyken Fish Bar

This chippy got really good when they refurbished but gradually their standards have dropped. It started when my daughter choked and couldn't breath for a few minutes because ALL the chips were way too crunchy. But now their chips are tasting off, and the curry sauce isn't right. The batter on the fish is thick and stodgy. 3 times in a row it's been bad, I won't be returning again... Standards are going down but prices are continuing to go up... High prices for low quality food.

As a reviewer has already stated very hit n miss with this establishment, used them over the past 6 months due to renovation work and ordered fish and chips via delivery which have been good.however the last 2 orders have been shall we say BAD!, the 1st bad order was a little dried out the fish and the chips but put that down too it being Tuesady around 5pm, however after ordering there latest offering 3 large chips and 3x cod, 2 x curry sauce and savaloy, delivered Saturday 13th August supposed to have arrived at 6.30pm after ordering them at 5.20pm for a specific delivery time they eventually turned up at 6.54pm, to say the chips and 2 of the fish were inedible describes it perfectly, the savaloy and curry sauce good, and one the fish was also good, the rest was dried out rubbish rubber chips shriveled fish which as I just said was rubbish and that's where it ended up, had to order pizza in the end as a substitute.So come wyken chip shop get your act together 35 quid spent and it's only fit for the bin disgraceful you lost me as customer would Not Recommend you either, the first bad- dish order I can let slid but the last one we HELL NO, bye......

Ordered food at 19:30pm and come 21:30pm nothing had arrived. 2 hours. Talk about a late night. What's worse, number was busy the whole time and just eat would not refund.

Horrible food very cold. Did not listen to what we wanted asked for separate items all mixed in one box. Will not be ordering from here again.

Best chippy around this area. Speedy service, tasty food. Always very busy but that just proves that it is top notch! Great for the locals but also well worth a drive to if you are not so local. They have recently changed card payments to £10 and above so if your order is less than £10 make sure you have cash on you.

This used to be our favourite chippy but tonight was the last time we will get food from here.Chips have been crunchy the last 3 occasions and at times bordering on being off. The Fish which was always outstanding is consistently bad with tonight's small fish resembling a battered sausage and thick stodgy batter. Family left most of the food as unedible.Such a shame as I would reccomend this chippy to everyone but cannot any longer.

Always use this chippy even though I have to drive from across city to get there, Usually worth the drive. However, today was my last visit. The server was so busy taking all the orders she forgot what she was doing. She didn't make the order up as requested (1 item!) and when asked she accused me off intimidating her just by asking for the sauce to be added which I asked for upon ordering. She decided to dramatise the situation. I was not rude or demanding at all. I left with my money back and went elsewhere.There was only 2 people in front off me when entering but several turned up after me and she took all orders before preparing any off the orders. I understand that they have to have a system in place to take the money and serve their customers but she was obviously overwhelmed and couldn't remember what was a simple request.Very disappointing to be served like this especially as its the usual place that I visit.

The closing times are completely off, it’s a hit and miss whether this establishment is open after 21:00 hrs. Google shows that they close at 22:30 Mondays -Thursday close at 23:00 on Friday and 22:00 on Sundays. I was there at 20:15 on a Saturday and this place was closed despite the closing times disclosed on Google. I’d like to add good luck trying to phone this establishment to determine the closing times or any other query, the phone must be on silent!!! The kebabs are the dogs! As I work shifts I can’t get hold of them to confirm closing times somebody please help

Asking for a minimum £10 card payment when we’re pretty much leaning towards a cashless society and hardly anyone pays by cash these days. Pretty shocking to be fair. Not only that looking at all the other reviews they can’t even be bothered to reply and work to improve.

Staff friendly enough, chip portion was decent. However, declined my request to cook a haddock, I would have happily waited for 2.
