Nice place, Great Staff and drinks but leave the food alone.visited here on holiday , the pub looks nice from outside and is very traditional. Welcomed by the staff and drinks served promptly, cool and well kept. Ordered food and was then very disappointed, frozen oven chips, frozen fish, frozen Kiev etc. Really poor quality food cooked as well as it could be but just totally basic produce.

A lovely pub, the welcome from Jamie and the lads was warm and genuine, good food at very reasonable prices which is hard to find in this part of the country, most places really are overpriced but not here! We stumbled across this pub when we visited the nearby garage (Old Forge Garage - which incidentally is also excellent), and dined 2 nights in a row, highly recommended!

A really nice traditional pub with a relaxed atmosphere. We didn't eat there but the meals that that were brought out for other patrons looked very good. The young barman was very pleasant and helpful.

Didn't stay in rooms just had dinner. Pub is a bit austere. Food OK, regular pub grub, but dining experience, tables, chairs etc not all that comfortable. Must be popular though as was fully booked.

I’ve been coming here during holidays for the last 15 years. The beer has always been good and remains so. The food used to be good too but last night’s steak was appalling. It was cooked ok but it was a tough, sinewy, poorly butchered piece of meat that no chef should have ever let leave the kitchen.We were ready to offer some constructive feedback but the landlord couldn’t wait to swiftly remove the plates with a huge lumps of tough fat from the table - no ask if everything was ok. I thought I’d try when I went to pay but again, a dismissive attitude from behind the bar so I didn’t bother.Instead, I’ll post my feedback here and confirm to my friends and family that their advice based on their recent experiences not to visit was indeed correct.Not sure what’s going on but the landlord seems to have a program of self-destruction and we openly heard negativity from the staff.We also noticed signs up saying the “restaurant fully booked” when it clearly wasn’t. At 8:15pm on a Wednesday it was pretty much empty and we visited on the previous Sunday to see a large section of the pub seating closed off. Again, I wouldn’t say it was full booked.We’ve since learnt the pub is for sale so perhaps he’s trying to create an impression it’s actually busier than it really is.Go for a beer by all means but I’d avoid the food.

Stayed in caravan park in village and visited this traditional country pub 4 nights in a row to eat at. Good menu and all 4 meals were fantastic, the beef casserole in red wine being my favourite. Genuinely friendly staff and nice to see that dogs were warmly welcomed.

We went yesterday as we are stopping on the local Parkdean site. Won't be using the food & drink on site again. This place has far better food, better drinks & to top it off it's also cheaper.

Stopped off here for some food after reading the reviews and was not disappointed. Nice setting, staff were friendly and attentive. Decent food menu, see pictures (June 2023) food was tasty and reasonably priced as were drinks.Very lovely staff.Also dog friendly.
