Just a part of John Beer's collection is on show in the former Christchurch in Painswick, near Stroud. All the major names are represented: Pugin, Ashbee, William Morris, Gimson, Heal, Gordon Russell, Barnsley, Baillie Scott. This collection has to be seen to be believed. The collection must rival if not outweigh major collections in national museums. The museum is a labour of love, surviving without external funding. Go see it! It contains a large and diverse collection of mainly furniture including pieces by the Barnsleys, Pugin, Lutyns, Gimson, Gordon Russell, William Morris etc.Well worth a visit by anyone who has the slightest interest in the Arts and Crafts Movement.Lots to see.
