Retford (Gamston) Airport

Great staff and easy access to training flights, first go today and it was amazing, definitely worth a try if you fancy something different. Managed to take the controls and manouve a little but it is a complex art for the pilots.

Took a scenic flight from here today along the East Coast. The airport was very interesting and the cafe excellent too. Good facilities to watch the aircraft land and take off. Easy parking and free.

Another great place to eat. I'm particularly fond of their breakfasts. Super service too. Would recommend booking if you want a ensure a table.

It sounds like if you are just coming to view the planes then you will pay

I cannot thank Kya and Nick at Gamston airport more. We were on our way home (3 hour drive) and broke down. We pulled into the airport carpark to wait for recovery. They were kind, allowed us to use their facilities and checked in with us from time to time. They made an incredibly stressful situation much calmer. Plus I got to watch the planes so it wasn’t all bad. Thank you both so much for your kindness and patience.

Not very impressed. The Airport has put large barriers up so you can not go on a Monday and Tuesday to watch and view the Aeroplanes as per normal as the barrier gates are really high. The Cafe entrance to go and sit down to watch the planes is gated with a large barrier door and the door is only open when the cafe is open so you have to go during cafe opening hours to view the planes even in the outside seating area. The novelty has gone as you can not just go to relax and watch the planes as you wish as you are expected to buy something from the cafe to sit and watch the planes even in the outside seating area that’s the expectations anyway. Very very disappointed. Hope this review helps you plane spotters amongst us. Thank you.

The Apron Café is a really nice little place. Lovely food, helpful friendly staff. I'd say booking is recommended a lot of the time.

Ran a training course here. Conference rooms available and a cafe just across from the reception/control tower.Very friendly.
