Four Marys
My husband and I ate at this pub around a year ago. The food then was just okay, but I wanted to have a second try before writing a review. This time I went with a group, and unfortunately no one was really satisfied. We were met by a less than enthusiastic waitress, but I understand everyone has bad days. My meal was the worst of the group. I ordered the steak and ale pie. The pie was okay, but the mashed potato was an unedible clump (see my photo). The menu did say seasoned greens, but my greens really looked like stumps of old white lettuce. Lastly, in all my years of having steak and ale pie I've never seen chunks of meat in the gravy. The waitress didn't return to check on us or to see if we were happy with the food, even when giving the bill. We'll pass on this place in the future.

Great traditional pub with lovely atmosphere. Eating area away from the main bar so good conversation flowed over dinner. Good selection of traditional real ale and Scottish Whiskey. Nice to visit after a walk round this historical town.

Popped in early on a Tuesday evening and it was busy so a good sign. I had pork belly followed by sticky toffee pudding. Both very good. Nice cosy atmosphere.

Fish and chips was great but I made a wrong decision of ordering seafood risotto. It was basically frozen seafood with rice. I don’t blame them cos I was probably the only one ordering it in 50 years lol. They did their best as a pub. I think ordering pub classics would be the safest and best option at the Four Mary’s. Service was great, there was only one waiter at the whole restaurant section. Atmosphere was excellent with a nice fireplace.

We visited the Four Mary's in 1999 and we enjoyed the nostalgia and same wonderful experience this September. When you go be sure to read the menu and learn about the rich history of this wonderful bar and pub. The fish and chips were amazing!

Four Mary's is a quaint little pub in the main street of Linlithgow. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a fireplace in the eating area. The food is sensational and could only be topped by the friendly staff. They were getting busy when we were there and yet the staff still had time for a chat.

Last minute booking for dinner and they were able to accommodate us. We had a lovely meal of fish and chips and sirloin steak and chips. Both of us were full, both of us with empty plates. Service was quick and efficient, food was piping hot and delicious. Would highly recommend The Four Mary's for evening meal out.

Food was very disappointing. Roast potatoes were just boiled potatoes tossed in some oil (they were white!). Sprouts looked dry and reheated and carrots hadn't been cleaned properly. Clotted cream was just pouring (single cream). Slow to take drinks order meaning we were asked to move tables to eat dessert as our designated time was running out. Nice venue and nice staff but poor food means I won't be back ☹️

This pub has a lot of history, very nice staff we have dined here many times over the years. Excellent food reasonably priced. Nearby you can walk around the loch which has spectacular views of Linlithgow Palace birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Birdwatching area with various species of birds. Great day out for families.
