Skippers Hill Manor Preparatory School

Skippers Hill is a wonderful school. A magical place for education. Children are nurtured and treated like individuals. I have three children at the school and they have all thrived. They are outside a lot too, with forest school and daily games lessons and clubs. I happily give the school a five-star review.

Our experience at Skippers has been exceptional! Skippers integrates compassion into their teaching standards, emphasises the importance of values, and builds leaders through their classes and lessons. All of the teachers and staff are so kind to each child, encouraging each to their strengths. The faultless care and nature of the children goes above and beyond.Both my children Are extremely happy and love going to school everyday. They also enjoy all the extra curricular activities Skippers offers such as ballet, sports, music together with swoove and ‘wake and shake! The extensive outdoor space is an added bonus! Skippers Hill is such a happy vibrant place, children grow in confidence and thrive.Great team - great school!

Enrolling our two children at this school has easily been the best decision we have ever made as a family. I have seen them both flourish into confident, yet gracious, individuals who know they can succeed in whatever they decide to pursue. The support from the teachers is amazing, the facilities are wonderful, the atmosphere is lovely and the view over the valley - wow - who wouldn't want to go to school there?! Our youngest started at Skippers after October half term, but very quickly caught up with the curriculum and made new friends. The transition was seemless. I would 100% recommend Skippers for all children - it really is such an incredible place, and we appreciate how lucky we are every day.

Skippers is a unique and special school community where children are nurtured and taught by some of the most outstanding teaching professionals I've ever come across. Children can be children longer at Skippers, whilst at the same time growing in confidence and resilience to manage life at senior schools. Life changing for my son. All this in the stunning Sussex countryside!!

I can not recommend skippers enough! A truly incredible school with fantastic teachers. Our daughter is in kindergarten absolutely loves it, a brilliant mix of learning and play. She is developing far beyond what is expected for her age and we all couldn’t be happier.

We love Skippers! It is a lovely, warm and welcoming school. Our son first joined it in year 3 in 2018. He particularly enjoys the sports culture there. However, it was during the first lockdown that we could see what our child really had been learning at school. Firstly, we were impressed by the confident way the school briefed and prepared the children for homeschooling. Once they started, our son who was then age 9, would get up, get his school uniform on, have breakfast and be seated at his desk in front of his laptop ready for his first lesson by 9:00! They would have their English and Maths lessons via Google classroom followed by PE at 11:00, when the children would be expected to do their prescribed PE exercises and after that come back for lessons and lunch at 13:00. After lunch they always had an interesting project to do to keep them occupied. We were so pleased to see how the school prepared and helped the children build up resilience and positivity during that scary time. Our daughter first joined the school in Kindergarten in 2021. She was two and a half years old and incredibly shy due to not having much contact with people during covid but six months on and she was a different child! The school was very welcoming and a truly loving place and she just flourished. She is now at Reception and still gets disappointed when we tell her that she can’t go to school tomorrow because it’s a Saturday or holiday. As parents we couldn’t recommend Skippers enough, the teachers are always ready to have a chat, the office is always happy to help and the Headteacher Mr Makhouli will always take time to listen to us as parents.

My children (year 2 and 5) started in September and were made to feel incredibly welcome from day one. The positive atmosphere around the school is infectious and the children all seem so happy and content. Seeing the recent year 7&8 performance was inspiring, seeing such confidence at a young age was amazing. My son has really all the sport but also really excited to be part of the senior choir and play a role in the forthcoming school play.
