Premier cheesemonger of Bury st Edmunds. Family run, they take great care in sourcing the best cheese from all over. Cheese from the supermarket tastes of sawdust in comparison.

What a find! Amazing selection of British and continental European cheeses...and more besides (think speciality crackers chutneys etc.). Bury is very lucky to have these cheese gold mine!

What a great addition to Bury St Edmunds. I personally love cheese and it was a wonderful experience to shop here as the owners clearly have a passion for what they do. They where extremely knowledgeable and helpful guiding me on what to choose. I will certainly be a regular visitor and I wish them all the best for the future. Well done.

I visited The Cheese Hole in Bury St Edmunds this morning. The shop layout is well designed, and tidy. The cheese I brought was delicious. The gentleman behind the counter was serving another couple, and his knowledge on the cheeses was incredible from what I overheard. However, the lady who served me I thought was quite rude, and dismissive. Her customer service was not great and was very blunt at times. For example, I asked for recommendations whilst standing at the other end of the cheese counter as another couple was being served, and she said ‘no problem, but I’m not serving down that end’. One customer in the shop asked if there were any cheeses that were diary free as her son is allergic. After laughing, the lady said definitely not that’s not what we are going to do here, so again was quite dismissive. At the end of the day, this is an Artisanal cheese shop and therefore relies on its customers to keep the shop alive. There have been numerous cheese shops in Bury that have fallen to the fate of closing, so customer service is paramount and that should be remembered. I would visit again, because I’m passionate about visiting local stores, but the customer service would have to be improved.

A lovely cheese shop with knowledgeable owners. We had some very interesting crisps to go with some absolutely fantastic cheeses. I think my favourite was the truffle Gouda!
