Middleton Railway

I'm no rail enthusiast, but this small enclave has some fascinating history from the industrial past, all supported by a decent collection of locomotives and other rail based equipment, many of which allow you to climb on board.All topped off with a short journey along the line to Middleton Park.The 'museum' is free, but the single, one way ticket was £4 each.

Great afternoon out with the kids. Great to see your steam trains work and the history association with the local area. The Train ride was short but great all the same.

Nice little museum focussed on steam/diesel engines made in the area, with the opportunity to ride a train pulled by a steam engine on the days shown on their website. Tickets are great value, you can access the museum and ride the train all day.

Lots to see in a excellent new building. Very clean and tidy.

A super little railway. Standard gauge ( full size) running steam and diesel locos. A short trip about 10 mins each way from Moor lane to Middleton park. On site there's a free museum with many small locos on display and lots of info. The ticket office has a small shop, second hand books and a cafe with toilets. Staff and volunteers are super friendly and happy to chat. All on one level with ramps available onto the train so suitable for all abilities. Dog friendly with supplies of treats and water. A great afternoon out for all the family, if driving there's a small free carpark at the station. Currently the cost is 8 pounds for an adult ride all day with options available. Best checking the website for running days and events. Well deserved 5 stars.

Enjoyed two days visiting the railway during the Leeds Steampunk Market. Really interesting place, which until now I had no idea existed. Very interesting and accessible and a great family day out.

Visited on a Steampunk weekend. Free entry, although there is a charge for a ride on the train. Good display of engines etc. Really enjoyed it.
