Gilbert Lodge Inner Discovery

I meet some lovely people on my weekend stay at Gilbert Lodge including the hosts Gail and Audrey. My treatments where excellent both Heather Bowen therapy and Caroline Hopi candle explained the treatment before and during.I was disappointed with the accommodation though which I wouldn’t describe as ‘retreat’ standard. 2 windows in my bedroom which had different curtains, no headboard, normally I sleep with 1 pillow but at Gilbert lodge I needed 3 as they were so thin. There was nothing inviting about my bedroom.I understand that I was staying in the hosts home but whilst I was a paying customer it became a business and I didn’t appreciate seeing both hosts in their pyjamas and dressing gowns at breakfast.The therapy room was pure bliss, Audreys meditations were beautiful, I would have enjoyed more of them. Gilbert Lodge would benefit from having another treatment room as the majority of the day was spend waiting to have my treatment whilst the other 3 clients were in the therapy room. There wasn’t anywhere to sit and relax, the open space lounge or the garden which was full of weeds and the cushions damp and mouldy.

Retreat Centre and guest rooms in rural atmosphere. Excellent amenities and interesting surrounding garden.

Had a lovely weekend with Gail and Audrey. Felt very welcome, food really lovely and the treatments made me feel relaxed and peaceful. This was the reason I went. Thank you Ladies.

Needed some space from a stressful work situation & home life and so booked a retreat at Gilbert Lodge without much thought about why. Really, it just that colour was involved & I like colour.What I found was a true retreat.Through excellent guided meditations (I can't do this normally), exercises, fabulous home-made, nutritious food and a relaxing atmosphere, I began to let go of layers of stress, duties, thought patterns and responsibilities to press the reset button and heave a huge sigh.I have a way to go, but I feel I have been given tools to help to ,bring my life back to how it should be.The retreat was run by the excellent and wise pair Audrey & Gail, with enlightening sessions including Shirley and a wonderful treatment by Linda. I struck a great rapport with my fellow 'attendee', which added to the weekends enjoyment.I did worry about the price beforehand, but the weekend was well worth it.Oh! Nearly forgot, the room was lovely! That, and the shared areas are stylish, comfortable and spotless.

Visited last weekend retreat. The accommodation for a retreat was way below expected standard. My bedroom cleanliness and decor was not what was expected. Bedding, curtains and carpets were shabby and damp smelling. The social space and garden areas were also lacking cleanliness and care. We expected a calm serene garden but the furnishings were damp and mouldy and grubby looking. Gail kept us fed with her home cooking which suited me personally but was not as advertised for retreat cuisine. Meditations by Audrey were excellent and I personally benefitted greatly from them. She was very concerned that everyone benefitted and got as much out of them as possible. I also had a reading from her which was amazing. Heather who did the Bowen and tai-chi was very professional. Only comment here is that there was no sanitising of the beauty bed both days between clients which would be normal practice for any therapist. The Sunday session of Hopi ear candling and a 5 minute face massage seemed a bit of a waste of time and a lot of waiting around.I’ve got to say though I met the loveliest people and hope to stay in touch with them and I did leave feeling lighter and brighter. The cost though is way too much, you could have a luxury hotel/ spa weekend for less.

Peace of mind in a lovely place.A super welcoming house with a beautiful outdoor space filled with harmony.The accommodation is actually great and I could not fail to mention the food which is divine with homemade products. I really felt welcome and comfortable during my experience.About the staff I’ll start talk about Gail who has a great sense of humour and she’s an excellent hosts. She’s always happy to help you in everything with a great talent to the kitchen.Obviously that I couldn’t forget to talk about Audrey who’s the best option for those who want to be able to meditate. She is without a doubt the most suitable person. I can say it worked for me.There’s also a gentleman call Scott who has a exceptional welcoming vocation.Honestly I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience that was provided to me.I truly advice everyone.

I always look forward to visiting Gilbert Lodge.A warm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with tranquil surroundings inside and outside in the lovely garden.Very nice rooms and a lovely therapeutic treatment room with lots of treatments to choose from and various retreats throughout the year.Good healthy food and friendly hosts.

I recently attended a tarot card workshop. I found both the atmosphere and location, warm friendly and relaxing. I don't particularly find clinical settings to my taste or budget. The content and delivery was excellent. Informative and structured in a relaxed format.It was good value for money and I felt I left both lighter and aware. I have formed new aquaintance, that are like minded. I will be looking to book other workshops available.
