Manningtree Fire Station

Manningtree is one of the more interesting Essex Fire Stations if you're interested in more obscure vehicles used by the Fire Service. Due to Manningtree's lowland riverside location, the town's greatest threat isn't from fire, but from flooding. To address this issue of storm-surge high-tides on occasion having left the road linking Mistley to Manningtree, (known as, The Walls) underwater, a specialist 4WD Mercedes-Benz pumping appliance is stationed permanently on-site. There's also a mast on the roof of the station, it's one of a matching pair, the other being on the opposite side of The Stour, in Cattawade, Suffolk. The Fire Station is located in Quay Street, opposite Manningtree Beach.
