Traditional English pub. Impressive wine list. You could see they were very busy but we were still well taken care of. Service was very friendly. As for the food it was exceptional! Beautiful garden. We hope to return in the near future.

Lovely staff. Unbelievably good food. I've done a few Michelin stars and these guys certainly deserve theirs. Wines we picked ourselves but matched the food perfectly, desserts were lovely and the dessert wines went really well with the treacle tart (amazing) and chocolate panna cotta (also amazing).

Went here last night for my birthday meal, the bar is beautiful, welcoming log fire, extensive wine list. Lovely starter of wild mushroom tartlet and delicious breads. I chose Fish of the day which was Monkfish. My partner had venison. Unfortunately as I cut into my monkfish it felt tough, and apart from a tiny bit at the end it was completely raw and inedible. The owner was apologetic and offered me a new meal which was a different choice and was lovely. But my partner had finished his food when mine arrived and the evening was spoiled. How can a professional kitchen serve raw food. Sadly I have lost trust and will not be returning here.

Lovely cosy pub/restaurant with log fireplaces. High end food. Dog friendly if you let them know in advance and they found us a spot in the restaurant rather than the bar area. Our dogs are very well behaved. The desserts were delicious as well, alas my phone battery had run out. Looking forward to coming back on warmer days

Really lovely country pub - very traditional and hasn't succumbed to becoming too modern. Quite rural but with an amazing garden to sit out in summer. Food is very good, definitely order the 'chips' as a side! A roaring fire on a cold winter day. Service really friendly. Overall would definitely visit again.

My husband and I met my parents for dinner tonight at The Sir Charles Napier. It’s our favourite local restaurant and we usually go about 4 or 5 times a year. The ambiance is amazing, staff are very friendly, service is impeccable. There is a good choice of menu to suit all. Tonight I had crab as a starter, trout as my main course and shared cheese to finish. The wine menu is also excellent! I would definitely recommend to ALL!

We had a wonderful evening at The Sir Charles Napier this weekend. Dinner was outstanding, fresh, local ingredients imaginatively combined to make mouthwatering dishes. Quick, courteous service and with drinks outside in the beautiful garden we had a very memorable evening. Compliments to the chefs and all those that made our experience exceptional - thank you!

I can't actually tell you how good the food is, but I can tell you what the service is like.I'd heard good things about the pub/restaurant. and being only about 5 miles away, I thought I would call in for a drink before taking my wife for a meal. I walked into the bar area (wearing smart/casual clothing), which was busy, but certainly not buzzing. I ordered a coffee at the bar and was told that they were simply too busy to serve me. I said I was happy to wait until they were next doing another coffee, but I was told that they were simply too busy. This isn't a case of me walking in 10 minutes before closing, and the bar was otherwise serving people. It's simply not the way to treat potential customers, and I'm really disappointed because otherwise it looked great.

Absolutely loved the day we spent here! A perfect place for a get together, so cosy and outstanding food. The staff and manager were so efficient and willing and we felt really welcome. The sculptures in the garden were a great surprise as well, loved taking a frosty stroll around the garden and fields and seeing the sights.

Everything was absolutely perfect. Beautiful garden, impeccable service, delicious food. Also we got really lucky on the weather which made their outdoor dining even more impressive!
