A really warm experience here. Although we only stopped in for drinks, it was really nice. The warm radiator also helped thaw us out. Staff seemed friendly and the food looked amazing. Unfortunately never got to try the food but there's always a next time I suppose

I have been visiting York with my mother for 3 days in March 2023. We have been coming to this pub every day because of the amazing food, good vibe, cool smoking area with a view on the York Minster and a very kind staff. If you are visiting York and you want to grab a drink , have a dinner or apple pie- The Cross Keys is your choice.

Had lunch here on a day out to the York Christmas Market. A traditional Victorian pub in a busy central location, it's really handy for the Minster and only a couple of minutes walk from Monk Bar and the city walls. The outside seating area has a great view of the Minster. Inside, there's a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, traditional decor and furnishings, log fires and Sky TV. Nicely decorated for Christmas. Clean downstairs toilets. There's a roomy bar lounge, but I had my lunch in the cosy snug at the back of the pub. The staff were hospitable and friendly, and although it was quite busy, service was quick and attentive. There's an extensive drinks menu with an amazing variety of gins, real ale, wines and spirits, and they also serve hot drinks. Excellent choice of starters and mains, more imaginative than your average pub food, and a wonderful selection of homemade pies. Opted for the wild boar and chorizo pie with clotted cream mash, thyme roasted carrots and a jug of rich gravy. Well cooked, hot, good quality ingredients and full of flavour. Had a nice Merlot to accompany the meal. The desserts looked really good, but I was just too full! The price was reasonable too. Would recommend this pub for lunch if you're visiting York.

From start to finish our visit was fabulous. When we called to make a reservation Christian was very helpful. We requested if we could watch a particular game of rugby when we made our booking. Our table was next to the tv and the service was excellent. Christian was brilliant. A credit to the team of staff. The food was delicious too.

Nice pub. Used to go a lot about 15 years ago. On the night I visited it sadly was very empty and not much of an atmosphere. Nevertheless still a nice pub.

Came and had a fantastic late lunch and the food was amazing especially the signature burger. I saw they had a fantastic range of gin that I couldn't sample due to driving home but if I was local I'd be coming more often for sure. Friendly and helpful staff made us feel welcome and the decor was great. Thank you for an wonderful experience

One dish was virtually cold and had to be sent back, herb crusted potatoes" were just boiled potatoes cut into chunks. The other dish arrived with half the listed ingredients missing and was sent back
