Buxton & High Peak Golf Club

At first glance the course might not seen as 'glossy' as its close neighbour, the renowned Cavendish. This is a different proposition - an excellent, subtly featured golf course with plenty of features which kept us interested all the way round. Some quite challenging ancient quarries which are demanding without prior knowledge. Dips and bumps add much to the quality of play in the approach to the greens. Overall a very playable course for a moderately capable golfer ...unless the wind is blowing! Not as up-and-down as Cavendish by any means - far less exhausting for some. Kept to a very good standard, with welcoming staff. This is well-drained (almost links-style course but with trees) likely to be open in all but the very worst possible weather. Very affordably priced too - we found it to be excellent value and very welcoming.

Great layout with lots of good holes. Greens just been sanded but look really good. Catering was superb. Everyone at the club was so friendly to our group and we will be going back again next year all being well. Carl the pro was easy to get on with and very helpful. Jane in the office made sure that everything went smoothly. Thank you all for your efforts.

Great course, always in good condition. The green fees are so reasonable!!The course provides a great variety for all golfers even having a links feel to 4 of the holes. I would definitely recommend a visit!!

The course is well maintained. I found the greens were slow but true. There is a practice area and what looked like a driving range but I didn't have time to try it out. There is a stair lift, toilets, a bar and food area. We had a good dinner of steak and beer pie with chips and mushy peas, and apple crumble, yum,yum.

With hardly any decent winter courses around Sheffield and Derbyshire, this course is fantastic and in great condition. The members are the friendliest members I have met in all golf course across England, so many ask how was your round and genuinely want to talk golf with you. A real pleasure.

We recently held a wake for my mother, who was born just across from the golf club in Rose Cottage. The club looked after us fantastically well. Emma in particular made us feel very welcome, but Jane and Stacey were wonderful in making the process of planning the event trouble free. I would also like to say that the home made food provided was excellent. Thank you.

A very warm welcome from the pro shop, really friendly. Helpful information given. Unfortunately 2 holes are currently closed due to major roadworks, beyond the clubs control. The course was in fairly good condition considering we had several quite heavy snow showers through the afternoon. Good value for a round of golf on an interesting but not long course. Well worth a visit.

Very challenging course, food lovely and the staff welcoming and friendly, thoroughly enjoyed my day there

Ok played this course 1st Nov.It was very soft under foot but what do you expect at this time of year. We had a very heavy down pour half way round which spoilt it. All but one green open tee mats very hard to get your tees in. I would recommend fairway mats all in all not to bad. we payed £25 each thought it a bit pricey for time of year £18 / £20 about right.Roy Whittaker
