If I could rate the Coop bank with zero stars I would. My 85 year old Mum, who has been a customer of the bank for more than 40 years, went into the Glasgow branch and the staff refused to carry out her simple instruction - to transfer her money internally between her two Coop bank accounts. She showed them her passport and driving licence and they point blank refused to carry out her request. My mum called me and authorised me to speak to them on her behalf to resolve the issue (I have been in the bank several times with my mum and Declan in the branch knows the family). I asked to speak to Declan but he was with another customer. I escalated to Pamela and she refused to carry out the transfer despite me clearly outlining the request and our previous meetings with Declan. This isn’t the first time the Coop bank in Glasgow have treated my mum in an obstinate and disrespectful way. My dad worked for the Coop for many years and they’ve been loyal customers of the bank for decades. The attitude of the staff in the Glasgow branch is awful and I would not recommend this bank to any prospective customer. We will be taking this up with the FCA.

Dont know what to say about this Glasgow branch except never came across more nicer staff in my life. Nothing is to much for them whether you have 10 quid on your account or 10 million.. my dealings were mainly with martin absolute lovelyman intelligent funny so down to earth a credit to the bank thanks martin for making me feel comfortable and welcome

Great bank - and the in branch customer service is the best I've ever experienced. Staff are friendly and go out their way to help - no matter what your query is. Very undertstanding of 'real life' money matters. I'd feel more than comfortable approaching them about any financial issue. Exactly what you need from your bank.

The system in which a customer flows through to get an answer regarding paying of a loan early is absolutely horrendous. I waited on the phone for 25 minutes, told I could pay the loan off early then after 35 minutes of back and forth between telephone advisor and manager, told I could infact not pay the loan over the phone and I had to wait 5 days to get a letter to phone back and go to the correct department.....Get better departmental comuinication and come into 2023 with payments. I will be removing my account as soon as the loan is paid.Worst banking experience I've hadIf I could give less than 1 star I would have

I have been a customer of the bank for over 20 years. I've had a savings account and for the last 19 years, a credit card. Regarding the credit card I have always payed the balance IN FULL every month. Today I called to resolve the issue of having payed for a holiday, I would like to raise my credit limit by £500. My application was rejected because my credit wasn't good enough!!! I only have a credit with the coop bank. It's my only debt. Having asked to speak to a manager on more than one occasion, none was available, so I reluctantly raised a complaint which was not upheld. This all took 36 minutes on the phone. I will clear the balance and destroy the card. I will not be using the bank for anything in the future. To say I am upset and angry is an understatement. I will no longer recommend them to anyone What an appalling way to treat a loyal customer of long standing?

There is no information regarding Easter opening times. Very frustrating if you need to visit the bank. Staff are fantastic in Glasgow branch but bank needs to be more proactive on keeping customers up to date with bank holiday opening times.

My daughter has been waiting weeks for business account to be opened. She can’t invoice anyone because this bank still hasn’t allowed her access. Spent hours on the ‘phone to them with no progress. Dreadful service.

Awful experience. Made an enquiry regarding my daughter trust fund in order to close and move funds to junior isa. The looks I got from the woman who was clearly jumping to wrong conclusions. After discovering the account can't be closed until child 18 (although they weren't very sure about it) I didn't get a courteous closure like apologies Mr Smith I hope this can be resolved for you". Instead it was a dumb stare. How do these people get jobs? Yet another example of blatant sexism and misandry aimed at a man. Avoid this place"
