Haughmond Abbey
Cycled from shrewsberry to get here. Usually people travel to here by car. Big entrance with car park. There is usually a staff on site but no shop and cafe. The sught is mostly a ruin with a room showing some photos as exhibits. Can spend around 30 minutes to one hour here

A great spot for a stroll and a picnic. There is free parking for around 15 cars and free entry to the ruined Abbey. There is plenty of space to explore and some information boards to give some detail about the Abbey.Dogs are welcome too.

Very interesting place and fairly close to Shrewsbury.A lovely woodland walk runs next to the abbey.Definately worth a visit would have been quite spectacular in its day.

A beautiful secluded ruin of what must have been a stunning Abbey. Still has charm and beauty even if not much remains! A little gem!

Another incredible place to visit if you’re in the area. The ruins are great to see (it was once a big building) and the views across Shropshire are worth the short walk to the abbey.

Visited on a lazy afternoon in 2020 summer, when I had my Shropshire vacation. Because it is a ruined site it has free entry and runs by English Heritage. A few parking spaces are available, not too many, but because it's not overcrowded, so fair enough. If I'm right, there is no cafe or shop on site, but there is toilet. The ruins has a history back to the 12th century, even though it is abandoned for a few hundred years, but luckily in a fairly good condition. Adequate footwear is necessary, just like to many other EH ruined sites. 1-2 hour visit is enough, but it is also a beauty spot with scenic view for painters.

One of English Heritage free to visit sites, there is a small carpark down a track, the entrance is a bit hidden and blind getting out of. No guide book available but there is information boards dotted about, and the website has a bit of information on it. Quite a lot left to explore and the remains of the chapter house a highlight. It's worth making part of a day out if passing

Wow this place was simply beautiful. It’s so good to have these ancient buildings so close to home with the history they hold. Parking was fine and while this is an open site with an obvious private house on the grounds. It’s still a welcoming site to visit, I’ve been to some that aren’t. If you want to take the kids for a picnic and explore this is a great choice.

Abbey ruins, nice place for a picnic in the sunny weather which we were lucky to have. Take a steady walk around. This would be a visit after going to Attingham Park which is very close.
