Staff have clearly been doing their best at busy time of year and after postal strikes etc. I witnessed a customer being very rude and disrespectful which was sad to see as all staff I experienced have been polite and helpful.

I have to say that when I first moved here around two and a half years ago I didn't find this store very friendly or helpful however over the last year I have only ever found every one to be much more upbeat, helpful and in particular yesterday when I went in to shop and use the post office. Every one was so helpful and engaging. So thank you to all the staff there for my lovely shopping experience.

Due to Covid, there is a queue system. So often you see a queue in front of the shop. However, the queue is mostly for upstairs post office.I suggest, let people in for downstairs with like 6 people limit, then let upstairs people in for again like 6-10 people because most of time nobody is in the downstairs, why do you need to queue if you just go to downstairs shop to buy magazines etc.So post office, today is Saturday and there was only 1 person working inside the counter. So I waited like 30 mins with a woman just cut in front of me at the entrance queue pretending not to notice me there ( she did not even check so I am sure she knew I was there).Post office guy was very efficient and he was doing his best. However just queue was too long. He was saying something like his employer does not care to bring people in for Saturdays because it will cost money to bring people in? Not sure how the post office profit is made, but for the service point of view, it is not great and make me feel like using alternative services like collect plus/DHL/Hermes. So better think again to have that long queue on busy days.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, if they worked for me they would be out. Now a WH Smith staff-sink shop (and I have been going there since the 70's). Witnessed an awful row in WH Smith Forest Hill on 19 Dec 2017 - customer was querying why no-one had put up a notice that a facility in Post Office section was unavailable, resulting in her waiting for 30min for nothing. Admittedly the shop section down below is not related to the PO, but when customer raised the subject, the ignorant shop assistant accused customer of shouting (which she was not, I was standing three metres away browsing a book during the whole affair), shouted out that she was not going to talk to her, and walked off, leaving the till, shouting that the customer was rude and out of order. Disgraceful. Then replaced by another employee who refused to answer customer's questions about who was the manager, what is his or or her name, then saying she did not know his/her name, look on the website. Then refusing to give the website address. I got so upset I had to chip in and then was asked repeatedly why I was getting involved, Because this is absolutely appalling customer service

General purpose stationer, newsagent and bookseller with post office on first floor. Not cheap though.

Awful customer service. Went there to buy something no hello no thank you and did not even tell me the total. Second time again the same cashier, Linda, was extremely rude when the post office sent me downstairs to get some sellotape to stick on a return envelope. Whilst talking to her manager raising a concern about her poor service, she felt the need to intervene a couple of times rather than avoid a confrontation. I’ve been in retail management for years and she would not last one day with me. Also, to confirm other reviews, it rarely opens on time...

Illogical layout and poor service. Post office is upstairs, but you cant buy envelopes from them. Go downstairs..can buy an envelope but not stamps! After taking a pushchair up and down the lift 4 times i gave up and left. Staff were pleasant but not particularly helpful and seemed not to understand why I thought it strange a post office didnt sell envelopes..

A strange experience awaits those who dare! They rarely open on time and in fact miss the appointed period by fifteen or twenty minutes. When I asked if I was somehow misunderstanding their opening sign the lady whom I see there often stated, aggressively, that we open when we unlock the door". I own a retail outlet and if this person worked for me she would be taken to the stock room and shot between the eyes with a spud gun and told to never darken our doors again. So in summary
