Visited for Sunday lunch, pub was very busy but service was very good. Portions were large & food very tasty, but we were too full for dessert unfortunately! Only criticism was not enough veg on plate, but you can pay for extra. Would recommend & we'll be back again.

This was a lunch stop around 2pm for our circular walk. I'd read the reviews before. In agreement with others the portions are huge. Our single portion of sweet potato chips was shared between 3 adults. Good service, great light lunch food, good beer too. I'd come here again.

Excellent countryside pub which is great for families. Came on the weekend for some lunch and was very surprised with how good it was. Luckily we're fairly local so will be returning for more. The pub itself is divided into two sections, the main pub and a newer building at the back, including outdoor seats, so you'll likely get a seat except on the busiest of days. There is also a decent sized play area for children, and parking onsite. The food was excellent, had the dirty fries and a gypsy tart. It's gotta be some of the best dirty fries I've had, and their gypsy tart was so moorish I wanted a couple more just to myself!Nice atmosphere with interesting pub signs and even some historical artifacts from the 15th century tucked away in a corner.

This pub thinks it ok to serve limp salad and food that has clearly been sat on the side for a few hrs .The chef would not explain what had happened, the frankly 22 yr old manager cannot sort any disputes for a toffee. And the owner mark doesn't care one bit , he has your money and that's fine by him .

Sad Sunday Dinner - The roast dinners must be batched cooked. Undercooked potatoes, undercooked brussel sprouts, overcooked beef which was very fatty and burnt yorkshire pudding. Broccoli, carrots, stuffing and Turkey however were cooked perfectly.Service wasn’t great. We had to remind staff of drinks we had ordered as they took forever to come. Also had to ask to remove drinks from the bill which never turned up. We also had to go up to settle our bill as the staff did not come to our table regularly.I’ve been here a number of times before and the food and service had been great however this Sunday evening it wasn’t and definitely wasn’t worth the 10% tip automatically added to the bill.

Absolutely fantastic place! Can't believe I've never been before!Great food, great staff and lovely surroundings!Bought my Mum for a Sunday roast, for her Birthday and we had The Crypt table! It was so unique and the whole building has lots of history, which I love!Staff were really good and the food was excellent! Best Sunday roast I've had out in a long time! Will definitely return and recommend to friends too!

A good varied menu, great tasting food, and excellent staffing. The pub was fully booked, but we did not have to wait long for our meals. Very efficient. This is a lovely pub, full of nooks and crannies. Strange gender identification for the lavatories though. It took both of us a while to work out that Gulls" meant female. That aside
