at opening in the morning, we went too early to pay for the product. the seller rudely informed me: it's not 8:30 yet. This ruined our day. Thank you for the unpleasant experience.

OK, I purchased a couple of clothing items that were decent quality and fit, but your checkout let you down !When heading for the till their was a lady asking me if I'm paying 'cash or card', on saying cash I was pointed towards a que five deep and only one member of staff on a till. The other cash till was unmanned, and four self-checkout 'card only' tills were empty.The one person serving is plodding on with returns/sales, and the lady directing customers into ques went behind the counter, and I thought she was going to serve.Well, that would make sense, but no! She shouts for someone else to come and serve, then goes back to her directing post as the que is getting even longer.One bloke even left the cash que and was influenced to pay by card to get served and out quicker!!After the cashier had served another four customers, the called for cashier turned up to serve me. At that point, this was a good while later, and I had considered walking out!!Meanwhile, only three customers had used the self-checkout 'card only' tills.Please employ some more staff or make the self-checkout tills accept cash ... CASH STILL EXISTS !

Excellent products at very good prices, but let down badly at the self service check out. Antiquated machines caused a backup

Great range to choose from and friendly staff. However I have never been in such disgusting changing rooms. Floors are filthy in there. Looks like floors in main store are pretty grotty too. I think they need a cleaner.

Easy service to use, member of staff I felt with was helpful and friendly. Price was a little low but don’t have time for the private sale hassle.

I normally really like Matalan but was disappointed with my visit today. I only bought a cake tin and was hoping to find lots of Christmas presents. Maybe it was just me... I did find the tills a problem though. There was a queue and the only cashier had encountered a problem. The self check out only takes cards (which I was OK to use) but a number of other people had gift cards and cash and this caused quite a queue with just 1 cashier.

Love this shop doesn't just sell clothes it has alot more like kitchen wear and foot wear

Not a bad shop to be fair but unfortunately not for me. Its sells some good items and a good range of clothes but just not my style

Some nice items but some are poor quality. I bought some canvas shoes and they have sunk in at the sides after two wears and the threading is coming loose. The staff are not very friendly and stand around chatting to each other when I was waiting to be served. I was told by the Matalan helpline that I could receive a refund with no receipt but in store they wouldn’t let me and they were acting like I was inconveniencing them by them having to put a refund through to a gift card.
