I volunteer for an organisation who rent the hall on a weekly basis.Mostly I am happy that any small issues are dealt with quickly and the church is a nice space to use.Unfortunately I discovered the hard way that the toilets have no sanitary bin! At first I thought that surely one of the 3 toilet cubicles would have a sanitary bin (any bin!) but I was wrong.I understand that those using the baby change facilities are encouraged to take dirty nappies home to dispose of, and that churches are not regulated by the same laws as businesses; But what would you have women do? Sanitary waste should not be flushed down the toilet as it may cause blockages in sewage pipes causing sewage and sanitary waste to pollute the sea, rivers and eventually beaches. So many groups use the hall- yoga, toddler group, Brownies, Scouts, bric a brac sale, Sunday school etc. Plenty of women use the facilities within the church and have nowhere to dispose of their sanitary products. Even in the disabled toilet there is no provision for waste such as incontinence pads.Surely all cubicles used by women should have a suitable method for disposing of sanitary waste? In this day and age, in the UK, a menstruating person should not have to worry about how they dispose of sanitary products. For this reason alone I have only given the church 3 stars. Once this has been rectified then I would happily change to 5 stars.
