Full disclosure, I ended up buying my dress elsewhere in the end (although I would have been absolutely gassed to wear any of the Halfpenny dresses I tried on - everything was cut beautifully and felt amazing to wear!) - I just wanted to shout out this boutique, and in particular Lola. Halfpenny was my first bridal appointment and I was pretty daunted by the whole thing, but Lola instantly put me at ease, showing genuine interest and so much patience. You can tell she really cares about her job! I'd recommend Halfpenny as a must-visit for anyone on their wedding dress search!

7 weeks before our wedding we were involved in a car crash that resulted in me needing three lots of surgery to reconstruct my arm. It meant that the dress I had bought was no longer suitable because my arm was still covered in dressings and it had sheer sleeves. Having trawled the internet with 4 weeks to go I contracted Halfpenny in the hope they might be able to help. Kate sorted me an appointment within 48 hours and I popped down to London to see if they might have a solution for me. Wearing a size 18/20 I was anxious (and had completely avoided the whole wedding dress shop experience until then) but I needn't have been as they carried samples in my size. The first thing I tried on was the DaVinci top which I had seen online and loved and I needn't have looked any further, the texture hid my dressings and with some minor alterations I was able to pair it with an existing skirt I'd purchased on a whim and I finally felt I was able to get married in something other than a potato sack.It goes without saying that circumstances meant I definitely didn't feel my best self but I absolutely looked my best self with not a hint of sticking plaster in sight and I am so grateful to the Halfpenny team for squeezing me in and helping me find a solution. The girls really looked after me at my appointment, which I attended alone, and were so understanding of the whole situation. Thank you!

I had the most wonderful experience dress shopping here. Niamh was excellent - she immediately made me (and my family - plenty of prosecco!) feel comfortable and relaxed. She was kind, patient, and knowledgable. This was my first dress shopping experience and I walked out with my dream dress. In addition to this, Niamh had so many good recommendations in regards to shoes and accessories. Half-penny are size-inclusive and have so many beautiful options to mix and match. This experience was better than I could have ever imagined, and it was everything that I wanted it to be! Thank you so much Niamh & the Halfpenny team.

My experience at Halfpenny was excellent. I was very surprised when booking the appointment...nearly 8 weeks wait! But when I attended, I understood why. Their gowns are beautiful, all the options they have...it was truly a brilliant experience. But, to me, the best was the customer service. Megan made the appointment excellent - she was supportive, understanding, provided lots of options...and if I said I didn't feel comfortable with anything, she would do her absolute best to change that ASAP. I felt special and like a priority, challenged in the right way and really well looked after.

Myself and my two bridesmaids had the most wonderful experience with Megan last weekend. I’d already bought a dress but having second thoughts. Megan was so amazing at picking out options and pulling together looks with accessories and absolutely wowing us with the results. Zero pressure just making sure I was happy with the look and how I felt about each dress. Post-appointment correspondence has been fantastic as well. Suffice to say the order has now gone in and I can’t wait for my first fitting!

Firstly I want to start by saying that the sales assistant I dealt with in store was wonderful and it is so sad as this is the first negative review I have ever felt the need to leave.However, my overall experience at HalfPenny was horrific. To start with my appt was booked in advance with my Mum paying to get a train from Liverpool to accompany me. On the way to London we were called to say a V.I.P was in need of my appt so they were going to have to cancel. It only ended up taking place later that day when I explained my Mum had travelled so far. But the ‘V.I.P’ still took my appt time. A V.I.P? Does that not apply to all brides? I chose a dress when I did go to HalfPenny and my Dad paid a deposit of over £3000. On the way home I emailed to say I was having second thoughts, and since the dress was being made to order and therefore didn’t exist, could they not start making anything before I came back- which was agreed. When I went back, I was given the same dress I chose to try on in a bigger size, and it was still extremely tight and unflattering. I explained that the dress wasn’t going to work for me and was told the deposit was non refundable. Whilst I appreciate that paperwork states this isn’t refundable, it seems human courtesy to refund a £3000 deposit for a dress that didn’t even exist and hadn’t been made, given I expressed straight away I was having doubts.I would have even been happy to lose some money in relation to having gone in and used up some of their time trying on dresses.I have ended up having to ask to get the dress made even though I know I won’t wear it, otherwise £3000 has been spent for nothing- for a non existent dress.Given what I have read about appt charges too it seems to me the common theme is greed, and unless you are an A lister or fit with the social media branding they want, you don’t really matter as much.I have had wonderful experiences at other boutiques where I have been made to feel so special in prep for my special day.My advice is to stay far away.

It's already been months since our wedding, but the magic of the day is still fresh... and my dress was nothing short of magical too! Mine was a custom Halfpenny gown, being an illustrator I had sketched what I wanted and then worked super closely with the incredible Kate to choose fabrics from their beautiful range, make tweaks and alterations so that the sketch could come to life and fit me perfectly... The team at Halfpenny was so competent, dedicated and all around lovely that I miss the excitement of my weekly appointments now! I will go back for a cup of tea and a good chat soon! Every step of my journey with Halfpenny has been wonderful. The service from their staff is fantastic, the dresses absolutely beautiful, and the location was perfect for me and my mum (who I was often picking up from kings cross station!). I was really nervous about wedding dress shopping and felt immediately at ease by the Halfpenny team. Cannot wait to wear my dress and would highly recommend them - their sustainable credentials are also brilliant.

I absolutely loved my experience at Halfpenny. From my first appointment Lola was so helpful and really helped me to feel comfortable and confident. As a street size 16 I was worried about wedding dress shopping and worried about not fitting into anything and I was so happy at the range of sizes available at halfpenny that fit me - in all styles too and not just limited ranges or segregated sections. I love the way Halfpenny platforms women of all sizes in their social media and editorial photos too and all of their collections have a timeless feel but with lots options to add an extra element of playfulness or glamorousness! Lola helped me to try on styles I had seen before and also encouraged me to try ones I hadn’t thought about - having such a good hype-woman encouraged me to go for a dress I would never dream of wearing but that I felt completely at home in.The whole team were really communicative throughout the ordering process and I really enjoyed all my fittings with Summer. She was so personable and took time to get to know me; she took every step to make sure all the details and the execution of my dress were perfect. I also was given scraps of my dress off-cuts which I turned into ribbons for my bouquet which was a lovely touch and nice to know fabric isnt going to waste!I loved being able to alter the patterns to suit me more - I ordered the Mayfair skirt and Ash dress but we made the straps thicker and then pleated them at the bust - the final result was so beautiful and well made. The quality of the fabric on your skin is beautiful and it felt really comfortable to wear all day. I felt classy but also very camp and fun - which is exactly me!
