It was a cold, wet afternoon when we were looking for a warm cup of tea with a scone to go with it we walked into Mrs Tickit's pantry only to be greeted with a tenative welcome and an excuse of not having a table available for us. A family of three assured us that they were leaving and offered their table to us. Another couple offered to take that small table and offered a larger one to the three of us leaving the staff with a sense of defeat. We were served the most insipid, cold, hard cheese scones that had to be crushed with the jaws. A tea pot too landed on the table with no hint of the variety of leaves it was brewing; perhaps we were just unlucky to get England's most unremarkable ones. A notice near the table described the right etiquette to have tea and keeping with its spirit we met our drink with equanimity and profusely thanked the servers before finally stepping out of a place that definitely has the potential to be Rochester's best tea shop. In some sense we were lucky, a few other who attempted to step in were sternly told, We are closing". (Or were they lucky

Fantastic service in a beautiful little building, full of character. The food is great. A varied selection of light lunches, sweet snacks and teas. With both indoor and outdoor seating, hidden away in the heart of Rochester, I've found this an enjoyable experience.

We've lived in Rochester for over 16 years and I'm ashamed to say, we have only just discovered Mrs Tickit's Pantry, though it is easy to miss.This charming little haven seats approximately 20.The menu is simple and very reasonably priced, definitely something for everyone. But the thing that convinced me that I would return time and again, was the array of different teas, beautifully displayed next to the main counter. It's rare that I can find my tea of choice in a café anywhere, let alone on my doorstep.The lady serving was incredibly welcoming, friendly and efficient.We will definitely return with friends and family in tow to sample more of the menu and book a cream tea.

I went yesterday for a late brunch, I found the staff pleasant and the overall experience very nice. Me and my family got the all day breakfast which I have to say was lovely, good quality ingredients and it came with a drink included. So great value for money. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Wonderful service and fantastic food, everything cooked to order and freshly prepared. Very clean and faultless. Don’t bother with the cafe across the road as this place is far superior.
