Waverley Abbey
I visited Waverley Abbey earlier this year. It was great to walk and touch the ruins. Sat under the tree, I bet it has a few million story’s to tell. Felt peaceful walking around and you can get a feel of what the building would had looked like then. There is information provided which helps you understand the history a little better.Defiantly a place to visit, my partner and I really enjoyed the day.

Waverley Abbey is a ruin, there is not much left of the once magnificent building. All the same it’s an interesting local beauty spot which has been nicely presented with various information points to explain what the building would have looked like, how it was used, and its demise. There is a beautiful tree growing over one of the walls which children love to climb. There is also some WW2 artefact’s to be found - dragons teeth and a gun emplacement.Car park can be busy, but there are some other beauty spots near by, so come back or park elsewhere and walk in. Accessibility is not great. Watch out for cowpats in the field before.

If you like visiting these sorts of places. Lovely setting with a lot of history. A couple of pill boxes to view by the car park. We did here and Farnham Castle in the same trip.

Off the beaten track but close enough to Farnham to warrant a quick visit, plus it's free, so why not?Interesting site that evokes slightly sad emotions standing in the ruins of a once impressive abbey. There is parking nearby, and a short walk along a path at the side of a picturesque lake will lead you to the site.

Waverley Abbey
I'm quite partial to some ruins and these did not dissapoint, we were lucky to have the place to ourselves for about half an hour before a couple more people showed up. The old Yew tree itself is worth the visit. Amazing to wander about these places and imagine how life must have been all that time ago.

A Cistercian abbey ruins within a short walking distance from an allocated car park on the river bank. Free entry. It is worth a visit on a nice sunny day.
