Very interesting. Bit tucked away, we walked past it as the entrance is hidden. Once inside, very good.. Staff excellent, could answer all our questions. They have a MUMMY!

Sweet but small. Definitely worth a trip If you have some extra time in Liverpool and if you happen to be here on Wednesday or Thursday which are the only days they're open.

Superb archeology museum. Looks small on the outside but it isn't. It is packed with incredible objects and even a mummy with coffin and all. As you can probably tell I am not particularly an archaeology enthusiast but this museum is interesting and accessible for everyone.

The Garstang Museum is a real hidden gem in Liverpool. It's the departmental museum for ACE (archaeology, classics and Egyptology), and is open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The galleries are predominantly Egyptian and Nubian (ancient Sudan) artefacts, along with some Roman, Greek and Near Eastern objects. It's a great place to take the kids, and the museum often runs family events during the holidays. And if you have any questions about the collection, the staff are qualified academics, and are supported by student volunteers from the department. It doesn't have a cafe (it's in a departmental building), but there are shops and cafes nearby. The nearest parking is on-street a couple of minutes' walk away.

Excellent find! Need to advertise this lovely (small) collection better. Entrance is not strictly from Abercrombie square, but is around the back. Inside there are some very interesting and informative displays including ancient Egypt, Sudan and the fertile triangle.

The collection is rather huge for the small size of the museum, the museum itself is really quiet which is great as there are no distractions when admiring the collection. It is rather great to see the care they give to the items, especially the bronzeware. It is great to see these in person!

A hidden gem of a museum! Definitely recommend checking it out. The staff are really friendly and super knowledgeable - worth checking their Facebook and twitter to see when the curator lead tours are on, as these are really great to go along to. They also host a lot of other events so definitely worth keeping an eye out! Small enough that you don't need the entire afternoon to see it, and close enough to the Victoria Gallery and Museum that you can do both in a few hours. Definitely recommend!
