1st dinner at our UK trip. what a remarkable dinner! All the dishes were excellent and unique. The wine was wonderful too. It raises the bar for all upcoming meals

GREAT seafood meal. Loved every dish— natural oysters, cured salmon, roasted octopus, hand dived scallop, whipped feta, and citrus slaw. Everything was delicious— you must try :) service was great. Luckily we didn’t book in advance and managed to get a table walk-in, wasn’t busy on a Monday evening. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place we will definitely be back, the place has excellent service and very knowledgeable staff, the dishes are fresh and have incredible flavour and identity. The menu and venue is quiant but that's part of its charm, its quality over quantity, even short staffed it was incredible service and as I said they known about their menu, the wine and cocktail menu is great and the food is just divine. The only people, i feel who could complain are those who want a freebie. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful night compliments to the staff, chef and owner for designing a wonderful menu and service throughout.

Top marks. A real gem in Edinburgh that put together some of the best plates we had on our trip. The service was attentive and friendly and we couldn’t ask for more. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in the city.

A treasure in the bustling heart of Edinburgh. Despite that, it is a very friendly and welcoming place. The staff ,food, wine, ambience and service were fantastic and great value for money.We had a minor issue which was resolved immediately with no fuss or drama. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

We walked by the Black Grape in the afternoon and I immediately knew I wanted to eat there. My partner asked if I checked the rating and I told her there was no need as my foodie sense was tingling (ok ok, I am a nerd I may have said spidi sense). I was not disappointed! Great food and great service! Interesting and tasty cocktails and wine. And probably the best pesto I have ever had. Definitely worth a visit. Do keep in mind that it's a small plate style and if you want to fill up the price adds up. So a little pricey but definitely worth it!

We are four weeks into our three month world tour and this is the BEST food experience we have had yet. Somehow this place did not show up on our google best restaurant search but we where lucky and walked by, looked it up, noticed the star rating and finally noticed it was open at 12pm when the online hours said 3pm. This food was so fantastic that we went back two times for lunch and waited for both sit downs to write the review.Whipped feta (wow outstanding), buffalo mozzarella (had both days and done different then most and so utterly delicious), denhead farm asparagus (wow), crispy coconut prawns (above average), bbq octopus (another home run), house focaccia (yes and yes), ceaser salad (wow delicious), hasselback potatoes (wow), venison braesola (Ok). We also had an outstanding shared dessert that had some sort of lemon taste with strawberries and an ice cream in the middle and OMG it was heaven to share at the end.I want to reiterate one more time = we travel the world. Just the last year 5 weeks in Spain, 3 weeks in Italy, two months in Chile and Argentina and now a 3 month world tour. This place easily goes into our top 10 all time unique and unexpected food experiences. We thank the owner and staff of The Black Grape for the good times and experience!

Words won’t do this small plates dining experience justice. Beyond delicious! Fresh. Great wine selection. Desserts are a must-do even if you are very full. The servers work hard and clearly have a passion for the place themselves. Our compliments to the chef and staff. ENJOY!

My wife and I enjoyed a very nice evening here. It was quiet however, it was 8:30 on a Tuesday evening. The food was really nice! Sensible sharing portions. We also enjoyed a great selection of different wines by the glass. I would like to go again when it is busy to see how the place feels when full as we felt spoilt with our experience.
