South Downs Bikes

Used South Downs over the last few months. Sorely dissatisfied with the service I received. Took my rear wheel for a wheel bearing to stop play, full hub service was done without asking first, I then started to get play in the cassette immediately after, told I needed a new cassette, so new cassette was purchased and still had play, then after taking it back for the second time the hub body had been damaged by the loose cassette, which I then obviously had to pay to replace. All this damage was done as they failed to fit a spacer behind the cassette after completing the original hub service, which resulted in play and damage to other parts. I took my wheel to another local bike shop in the end. Which was fixed in a matter of minutes…….

I recently took my lad to purchase a new bike. He's at an odd age for sizes but these guys were great!The guy who sold it to us was brilliant.. And even though my lad is only 11 the sales guy spoke to him about the whole transaction rather than me so it made my lad feel great and that it was him making all the decisions.Right from start to finish the whole transaction was, smooth and would not hesitate in buying another bike from them. Grade A***** service and one (well 2) happy customers!

Didn’t know a great deal and visited the branch a few times to look at bikes December/January, staff really helpful each time and were patient explaining everything about the bikes with genuine knowledge.Ended up choosing a Specialized and am really happy with it.Took back once or twice at first to have adjusted slightly however it was never any trouble and they sorted right away.Would recommend these guys to anyone!

I have been to South down bikes many times over the years and I think I can finally give an honest review.Quality of service - although most of the staff are on the younger side they were pleasant to deal with and fairly knowledgeable.Bikes for sale - very expensive but good quality. A tier above Halfords but at what cost?!Would recommend this place for repairs and part replacements and if you want a very high quality bike, this is the place for you.

I always found bike shops a bit of a special place, but arranged for a Frog service this morning and it couldn’t have been a happier experience. What a lovely service team, didnt catch the chaps name (I am assuming it might be Dave from the reviews below!) couldn’t have been better. I know where to head back to every time from now on.

I picked up a puncture (running tubeless) on South Downs Way riding from Brighton to Arundel about 2 miles from the shop. These guys sorted me out straight away with new gloop and I was back riding. First class and friendly service.

Haven’t been to a bike shop for years as I’ve found myself just ordering online. But after needing some help fixing my bike I may revert to supporting out my local shop. Really good service from Dave and fairly priced work. Good range of products and bikes in the Storrington shop. Will be recommending friends to do the same.

Brilliant Customer Service.By no means are we a family of cyclists. Got my daughters bike out in half term for a nice ride together.Flat tyre at the back and seat way too low. Didn’t have a specific spanner that could alter the seat at home. Determined not to alter our plans, it was off to South Downs bikes resigned to the fact of an unexpected shell out in the search of a probably pricey foot pump and seat Allen Key.Upon walking in, within seconds we were offered help by a lovely friendly chap who’s name I didn’t catch. I explained the issue. After briefly looking for the key, we went out to the car. In came the bike and within seconds, seat was altered to daughters size and both tyres fully pumped up.No charge, no sale! Just a helping hand to a dad and his kid! With cost of living, half term, and a few days until pay day, this was a very kind spirited community gesture. Shone a very good light on your business.I wouldn’t go anywhere else for bike needs following this.
