Got a quote for some wood to build a shed at the trade bit where the bulk is stored ,the chap was helpful and gave me good advice ,it all came to about £400 worth,a week later popped in and asked the two large guys behind the counter at the shop can i order some wood for delivery, before i could reel off my shopping list,i was informed that they dont do delivery, they haven't got a driver and wont have one to January, i dont understanddo they not want any business, is it lack of communication or they just cant be arsed , suppose ill have to spend my money some where else.

Good stock at much better prices than the big DIY stores.

Conway's have a very good supply of reasonably priced wood & accessorises. Unfortunately I have to agree with the other reviews! They have a very good business & well known in Glossop.What I do not understand is why they are such a miserable bunch of individuals? They really want to get a refund from Charm School" or get some lessons on Customer services.As specially the "Owner" what a right misery he is.They get one Star & that is for the wood & supply's on sale. Shame this could be a gold mine for the owner? Regrettably they have lost Four stars as their Customer services just let the Whole Business Down."

I have known Conway's since 1967 and have dealt with them since then.They are a unique business and well worth patronising ,I wish them success in the future.

Don't bother with the group DIY's try here first. You'll savemoney and get good , free advice if you need it .

Prices are good and I've always found staff helpful and friendly enough, like, it's not Starbucks, right? Generally the quality of their stock is much better than the big DIY stores - less cupped and warped, except for one thing... I found some of their pse boards look liked they've been ripped with a jigsaw, by eyeball alone. The faces are fine but in some case edges can be proper wiggly. I recommend this merchant, but take a tape measure and, if you're not buying that much, double check lengths, and sight down the edge of each board you pick.

Love Conway's. It's a no nonsense hardware and timber store. It has just about everything you would need for a DIY or professional job. All prices seem to beat large retailers.

I can see why some people might not appreciate the customer service here. But generally I've found that on several projects the staff have been knowledgeable and helpful. The materials are top quality and low price. My wife commented the other day how a member of staff helped her select the right materials for a job, no mention of any problems.
