Situated just off the busy A140. St. Mary's is a quaint thatched village church which contains a great art treasure - The Thornham Parva Retable. A 14thc. altar panel painted with Saints, which was discovered hidden in a house nearby. The church itself has fabric dating back to Saxon times.

Brilliant little church with very interesting history, from the ancient pictures on the walls to the screen behind the altar.

A gem of a church in a remote location. Unique design with a thatched nave and tower. Interesting wall paintings and a retable that is dazzling in its original colouring.

Beautiful little thatched church, where remarkable 14th century wall paintings were uncovered during a restoration. They are now uncovered and preserved. The church also had many informative booklets about the history and what they depict. Well worth a stop to see this treasure.

Stunning thatched village church and the last resting place of a some notable former residents of the parish. Sir Basil Spence architect and Dame Anne Warburton diplomat and the first female British ambassador are interred in the graveyard. Some wonderful period and contemporary stained and etched glass and lovely exposed wall painting features to admire. If you time it right there's also a plum tree at the gate(!)
