The Oaks Cafe
Absolutely dismal. Has the feel of a swimming pool cafeteria. Do yourself a favour and take a trip up the Clydeside (Clyde Valley); plenty of family owned garden centres serving fresh home made food. Given this is in a popular tourist attraction, of historical value, you would hope for something decent….you will be sorely disappointed.

Wanted a wee bite and a cuppa after the long park walk with my dog and wouldn’t even serve me as I had the dog in with me on the shortest lead as couldn’t leave him outside on his own. Quite rude about it too. Poor.

Quite poor.Very stingy with the panini fillings and the atmosphere was quite depressing. Not cheap either for what you get food wise.

The staff seemed friendly enough but unfortunately appropriate allergen information was not available for at least one item. I asked about the allergens within a vegan cake and was told by a member of staff that she didn't know because she'd thrown the packaging away. Not very impressive. Instead I chose a pre-packaged item which was very nice, but was still disappointed at the staff's lack of effort to be clued up about the items they're serving. Perhaps they need a bit more training in this area?

Nice location, clean, lots of seats. The coffee is really quite bad though.

The two women behind the counter today were incredibly rude. We apologised for not hearing her but a screen plus a mask isn’t the easiest to communicate through. Eye rolling to the point it was obvious. I was then approached by a member of staff of the gift shop in a red top at the counter of the cafe shoving a box of masks under my nose rudely. I said no thank you he took one out for me, I simply placed it in my bag. If you had approached me correctly and asking if I wanted a mask I would of told you I’m exempt forcing people is completely rude and the time in and then out this cafe was a complete abysmal, zero customer service skills between them

Visited today with my twin boys, they picked a kids meal box. When we went to pay we were informed their apples weren't included in this and they should swap them for biscuits. Disappointed my 4 year olds were told instead of apples they should have picked biscuits. I said I would pay for their fruit but was told next time they must choose something else. What sort of message is this sending to young children.

It's good if you're starving and there's nothing else around. Better than sitting in traffic. Sometimes a long cue. Soup is good, everything else mediocre. Asked for breakfast, said it was finished even though it was within the time. They said the baguette could be toasted, (have had the same thing toasted before at this same place) then they brought it untoasted and said they couldn't do it because the baguette would stick to the machine. Asked for coleslaw, and they gave one tablespoon of coleslaw. Basically, been in here two times and the staff it seemed like it was their first day working there (which if it was, that's fair, but given it was the second time being there I don't think it was a fluke) just funny more than anything else the level of cluelessness
