Black Dog
Having travelled around Bolton & surrounding areas with my family trying out the eateries The Black Dog is by far the best place we have eaten in, the food is top quality & reasonably priced & the service is brilliant, been a few times now & will be going a few times more, fantastic

Been a few times and always found it to be a lovely experience, great good and great price with good range of beers and friendly service.Outside tables for a nice day and plenty of seating inside but note that although there's a ramp to get in it is quite steep so wheelchair users and people using walking aids will need some assistance.

Decided to give the Black Dog a try today. Not a good experience. Steak was not cooked probably and the rest of the food was coldWaiter service was terrible, stood around doing nothing. When asked to get us a drink from the bar, the young man looked at us with disgustFinished up having to get out ownNo interaction from staff with customers, not even a smileTo be fair to one of the young girl she was very attentive and politePity about her colleaguesWhilst there we could hear others complainingSorry but won't be coming back

A lovely pub to stop off after a walk around Belmont. The food for the price is great, £20 gets you 6 sharing plates which we struggled to finish with how much there was.Dog friendly inside with dog sausages available.Good, safe parking opposite the road

Popped in for a drink after walking in the area, nice pint of golden ale. People were eating and it all looked delicious, unfortunately not enough time to stay for food.

WARNING!!! DO NOT VISITI wouldn’t recommend this pub under its current landlords to anyone. I’ve been visiting this pub for nearly 10 years under several different land lords, and most of them were excellent until the current one. The landlord has a terrible attitude and seems to constantly want an argument and will always argue the toss with you the paying customer. The food has usually been good at the black dog but under its new land lords has took a dive, it’s hit and miss whether it comes frozen from the microwave or not. If you’re going out for food visit the bay horse inn (10 minutes towards Chorley incredible food) or to San Marino 30 seconds up the road). The landlord at the black dog is known to reverse into customers cars and then get out and tell the onlookers “it’s the customers fault”, so if you want a dent in your car and a cold meal visit here. It’s not cheap either it’s top end pub price and considering your food has been thrown into a microwave you do have to question where they dream their prices up from. The lagers aren’t bad but be careful which glass you get given, you shouldn’t be given a glass that is more then 3 years old (you can tell the manufacture year of a glass by looking for the m number example m23 would mean manufactured in 2023.) I’ve been given a 10 year old dirty glass before and then asked for it to be changed only to be given another dirty 6 year old one!! When I went back for the third time I was met with one very angry and disgruntled landlady who pulled her face and slammed another one down infront of me. I hope you don’t like to sit comfortably either because there are several seats that look like they’ve been dragged out of the Second World War backwards. I can only assume the current landlord was a last choice option because I don’t think he could run a hot bath. Please please avoid this pub I hope Joseph holts see this and take action. For such a brilliant pub in a beautiful place it really has been run into the ground.

Food was really expensive and not even cooked properly, had all day breakfast and the tomato was a full one still raw, tossed in a pan till charred. Served with chips???? 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2eggs 1 black pudding slice and beans. Terrible. 2 servings with 2 pints cost near £40!!No WiFi made available, seating was to low to see it the windows or taxi the table. Not going back ever.

Had lunch here while doing family genealogy in the region. Very cool to think that based on the age of the building, my ancestors may have been in here too for a meal or a pint. Good food and beer.
