After a horrendous weekend visiting Fritton Lakes which was for a surprise birthday weekend for my partner in Retreat Number: SR3 Arrival Date 13/08 – 16/08. I followed our cut short break (we could not stomach anymore than two nights). I wrote a lengthy complaint clearly detailing and supplying evidence. The email was sent on the 16th August and I received a brief response on the 17th August to say it had been handed onto the managers and that they would contact me. After nearly 8 months I have heard nothing. Given that we had not been brave enough to risk going away up until then due to Covid we were more than disappointed if not angry to have paid what I would class as a substantial amount (1725.00). Sadly Google will not allow the length of the email I sent as I believe it would clearly demonstrate our complaint. Hopefully the pictures will visually enlighten anyone considering a break here. It is not worth even one star but Google insists!

Such an incredible find! Fritton Lake is a real gem. The grounds, the facilities (the pool is super warm, beautifully done - just amazing - you could be abroad when the sun is shining!). The accommodation (Koto cabin is our favourite so far) the food (every meal has been superb) and the staff (all go out of their way for you, so warm and friendly) it really is such a great place and we can’t recommend it highly enough! Enjoy x

It has been 2 weeks since I emailed requesting a quotation for a booking. I haven’t had a response so will not be coming as I was worried about the customer service based on previous reviews and my experience has not proved otherwise.

Fritton lake is situated in beautiful, natural grounds, perfect for a nature-filled getaway. With many outdoor activities on offer, there was always something to do or somewhere to explore. As well as this, Fritton Lake is on a rewilding journey where much of the grounds are being given back to nature, with old farmland turned into grazing grounds and wild flower fields, allowing natural plants and animals to reinhabit the land. The below provides some highlights from our trip covering both the rewilding programme as well as the facilities on offer.Rewilding tour• Our guide Hugh, had the charismatic dash and infectious enthusiasm that made it difficult to not get excited about the rewilding project• Starting with a boat ride, it was great to learn about the aquatic rewilding including the introduction (and challenges) of water buffalo, otters and perhaps later down the line, beavers• At the other side of the lake, an open sided military truck awaited and off we went on our Fritton safari• It wasn’t long before we came across one of the Boars that roamed freely around the rewilding area, with a litter of her piglets (to the delight of all in the truck)• As we moved to one of the rewilded fields, Hugh provided some fascinating insights into the economics of farming vs rewilding in terms of government subsidies and crop/livestock revenues (fascinating for me anyway)• Hugh explained that farming subsidies had created plentiful food and cheaper meat, but in some instances had led to less environmentally friendly farming and lower quality welfare for livestock. It was great to hear that there are societal and governmental changes in motion to address this.• As we continued, we saw wild deer and hares bounding about the grounds, before then finding the herd of cattle, horses and bicen, all grazing together on an old potato field. They looked happy, healthy with a good dose of wild. Exactly how you’d want the farm to look for the produce you buy!• The tour concluded with a drive through some of the grounds, with Hugh explaining that another part of the rewilding project was to sacrifice a small percentage of crop fields to enlarge the hedgerows, which provide huge amounts of bio diversity as well as helping provide greater levels of shelter between fields. Another example of a win win for farming working alongside nature in a mutually beneficial way• Overall we were left with a feeling that this pioneering project was how farming should look in the future. It was a fascinating and highly enjoyable experience. As well as the informative and educational rewilding tour, Fritton Lake had some wonderful facilities.• A beautiful outdoor pool, that wouldn’t look out of place in rural Sicily, complemented with tasteful, contemporary shabby chic changing rooms.• A wood heated lakeside sauna, with a full glass wall to soak in the views. Perfectly situated for a refreshing plunge (and for quickly climbing back into the warmth again)• Al freso dining situated in rows of scented herbs, perfect for dinner and drinks whilst the sun sets over the grounds• Grass tennis courts available as well as trail running, volleyball, climbing, zip lines etc.Overall, our trip to Fritton Lake was a wonderful experience. As well as pioneering an impressive environmental initiative, the experience and facilities on offer were brilliant. Whether you wanted non stop action and activities or whether you wanted to relax in beautiful surroundings, Fritton Lake won’t leave you disappointed and I would wholly recommend a trip!Harry & Emily

Fritton Lake
Really disappointing from start to finish. It’s not well thought out with extremely poor customer service. You are much better investing into a location with more experience and better knowledge. Wilderness reserve comes to mind. I would avoid for the price you pay. I also shared my feedback with management and they never fully acknowledged my response. Very let down.

Dont bother finding a car park or walking to the lake. Is all private and there's no public access unless you're a guest of the lodges
