Runcorn Promenade
Good place to feed the ducks and swans when they are there, good view of the bridges, widnes and the canal and Mersey. There is usually a good fire work display there around bonfire night.

A good view of the bridges, but not much of a walk here unfortunately. There are a few seats though to take in the view and also parking. You do get an up-close perspective of the bridge though, which is worth a look if interested in such things.

Nice spot to walk or sit beside the river Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal. Good place for wildlife and to view the old Runcorn Bridge.

Genuinely a lovely place to pull up in car and sit. You face the Manchester Ship Canal which has a wall separating it immediately from the River Mersey. You get to look left at the beautiful Silver Jubilee (Runcorn Bridge) and look right to see the brand new Mersey Gateway Bridge. Geese a plenty waddle around the canal side - no stranger to the cars or people, clearly after a free chip from your lunch. Tugs continue to use this part of MSC so you get to see them pass by. Further up the canal you can pay to travel on a boat/ship, which passes here. This is ideal place to have a little wander with the dog, give the kids a break from technology or even just use the benches to sit and look into the distance. Fiddlers Ferry Power Station is, for some, not a sight you'd say was beautiful. However, from the promenade you can't deny how impressive a structure it is. You get fantastic uninterrupted view of it. On a blue clear sky day, especially with only little or no wind, the massive cooling towers emit a bright white steam (I hope that's what it is) which litterally looks like it's drawing clouds in the sky. It attracts many photographers both professionals and amateurs. Finally, don't forget, the promenade is walking distance from Runcorn Town centre offering various shops and food/takeaway. On a specific weekday a main road is closed and temporarily pedestrianised for a General outdoor market.

Great views of the bridges crossing the mersey. Free parking. Not much else there, but if you like taking photographs, as I do, a favourite place to do this. Hence, 5 stars from me.

The kids love going here to feed the variety of birds. Free parking as well. Take plenty of bird seed, they are so friendly that they will eat out of your hand.
