A lovely modern sports pub, looks like they've spent quite a bit on doing it up, pity the atmosphere on the Saturday night we visited was depressing, just half a dozen scruffy old men. Loads of TVs to watch sport on, I expect its a great place when there's a special match on.

Supporting our team vs Blackpool FC ,we decided as a group of us to turn it into a weekend away ,Friday night we needed somewhere close by to our hotel to watch an international game ,The Excelsior was recommended & what a great experience we had ,the pub has plenty of beers lagers & ciders to choice from & at £3.60 for a pint of lager comes in cheaper than my local back homeLovely people very friendly & chatty even the Landlady & Landlord but the star of the show has to be the Queen of Shots Lou The ManageressNow I am not one for shots I like the odd top shelf tipple but some of the younger members of our group fancied a few so we started buying some of the shot offers available ranging from Haggis Bombs to Baby Guinness i did feel very light headed the following day !!We stay until virtually kicking out time & too everyone's amazement Lou gave us all a hug & thanked us for spending the evening in there ,in all the years of visiting bars all around the UK that personal touch is something I have never experienced before !We returned on Saturday evening too Karaoke was on ,my friend stepping up to sing twice ,food was laid out around the pub and offered around the customers (having already eaten I declined but there was plenty to go around ,The Excelsior had a function going on upstairsHad a cracking laugh watching some lad celebrate his 21st with a regular female customer giving him a funny personal dance while singing on the karaoke to Patricia The StripperOnce again as it come close to closing time Lou The Manageress thanked us for coming with a goodbye hug & wishesThe location of the pub is on Lytham Road a couple of minutes away from Blackpool FC on Bloomfield Road 10/15 mins from Central PierI love a pub away from all the hustle & bustle of all the attractions and The Excelsior is a perfect place for that ,made to feel welcome & everyone very sociable if you want somewhere to enjoy a drink of an evening then this is the place to go !!Thanks for all your hospitality we will see you again no doubt !

Nice bar lady who let us bring our own take away food in to eat.Good price for beer.Football on big screen.Thank you!

Great night with local people didn't have food

Pretty nice wee place nice atmosphere and most importantly a fair bit cheaper than the front.

Great place friendly landlady and bar very clean has THREE full size snooker tables upstairs . A great function room great food good beer and a great pool table

Great pub. Mostly locals. Music great and pints are top quality and very reasonably priced. Think I paid £4.20 for John Smith's and a pack of scampi fries.

Absolutely top quality staff very clean and tidy public house especially for Blackpool. All tables are cleaned and empty glasses removed very quickly. Staff are very welcoming and friendly nothing bad to say about the place

Absolutely fantastic. Big family get together on a rainy windy evening. We were made very welcome, including children. Prices are great. We were even allowed to bring a meal for all into the pub from a local chippy. How good for a great hostelry to allow this. I am reasonably local but many of our party had travelled to be here. Thank you so much for your exceptional hospitality
