Pleasant staff servingFish is always nice, alongside the Chip shop Curry Sauce - however chips could have been better they were hard and dry - otherwise would of been 5 stars

Downeys in my opinion cannot be beaten if you want the best fish & chips.If showing 2pm closed on Saturday, it doesn’t, I’ve informed Google.

Absolutely lovely staff. Today I had a takeaway chip butty with curry sauce and the last time I went I sat in and had fish and chips. I cannot fault this place for staff, quality, portion size, cleanliness etc. Need to come back and sit in again!

The food here is usually nice. You can ask for your fish to be lightly battered. However once or twice the fish has been overcooked and the chips have been undercooked. Also I think the chip portions are very small. It's literally enough for one person you couldnt get a bag between 2 as you can at most places.

I went for the large cod and it was that big it wouldn't fit in the takeaway box! Needless to say it was gorgeous. Cooked from fresh so I had to wait but I prefer that, it only took a few minutes & well worth the wait.

Ordered pie chips and gravy - pies were like bricks - rock hard and gravy smelt horrible. My wife rang the shop as it was delivered and told we could have 2 free pies next order - as if I would ever go back there again - if I get food poisoning I know where it will be from - disgusting

ordered food through just eat at West Rainton, they accepted the order gave me a delivery time but phoned me saying they cant make the delivery after i already paid for it, why even accept the order they cant fulfil?, don't recommend this place to anyone, shocking service

Regular customer at Downey's in seaburn great fish and chips. Used Downey's in west rainton a number of times expecting the same standard. The standard of service here is shocking. Order is always wrong and the curry sauce is always lumpy and not prepared properly.
