York Christmas Market
I was disappointed that the Tipi Tent wasn't in the square this year, as this I feel is one of the highlights! We tried to locate it in the museum gardens but it was too far away from the centre! The stalls were just as they are each year, a nice selection of gifts on offer.I dont think there was enough emphasis on the enjoyment of the Christmas season without spending a fortune ...ie the Tipi tent , Entertainers, and Carol Singers. Its the experience that people go to the Christmas markets for , not just spending money and I felt there was an uneven balance this year !

After searching for a Christmas market in the Uk we settled for York. We were excited to get into the Christmas mood. We were disappointed. There is not a lot of variety. All stalls were closed at 7. Even the food had stopped being served. The best park is the actual stores around. Not really the market. They have lovely Christmas lights which is the best part about it.

My second visit to this lively Christmas Market (I was here in 2021). It was pretty much the same as last time, with wooden chalets all along Parliament Street and into St Sampson's Square. I came on a Friday and it was extremely busy. Difficult to get a look at some of the stalls because there were so many people milling around. But there were some lovely gift ideas and original crafts ranging from flower jewellery and scented candles to hand turned wooden pens, leather drinking vessels and watercolours of local scenes, as well as fashion accessories, knitwear and homewares. There were stalls selling unusual Christmas decorations, and lots of festive food and drink. Enjoyed some hot mulled wine with spiced rum, a real treat on such a bitter cold day, but expensive at £7 a cup. The trees were beautifully lit and there were street entertainers. I did miss the Thor's Tipi tent - didn't know it had relocated to the Museum Gardens! Enjoyed exploring the side streets around the market too, and discovering Christmas festivities in other parts of the historic centre.

This Christmas market was poor. I get Xmas markets are busy but they should really space out more. No point going If your spending most your fighting to get in line. Would not recommend taking kids here as to easy to get hurt stood on. We took pram which was great idea. Waiting in line for food was silly with 30mins easy.l

This place is unbelievably busy. The market and surrounding streets were so full that you were stood shoulder to shoulder. It made it extremely hard to walk against the flow of people if you wanted to get somewhere. Also, i’d say that only half of the markets were actually selling gifts; the rest were food. Although, there were some incredibly talented people there selling amazing items!

Been to a few and thought yourk is highly rated. How wrong we were. by far this was the most disappointing we have been to uk & europe. Even prague 2 years ago was better and it closed for covid the day before we arrived. Lack of christmas stalls, lack of food and drink. Could only find one hot dog vendor no big german food stalls as in most christmas markets. Biggest supprise was it is all closed by 7pm this should be the time to enjoy it the most. AVOID york christmas market its not worth it

Very busy Christmas Market plus fairly large, in one way you could say it's probably better than the likes of Manchester Christmas Market because it seems to have a lot of different stalls selling different products and with the added bonus of many shops staying open late. Then also it's a beautiful area to visit, great place to eat and drink with many restaurants and pubs in the area, but on a down side its a pants place to get parking spaces and if you do, then you can expect to pay around £3.50 per hour just for the privilege. So if you are from outside the area like myself and on a bit of a break, then get a taxi there, it says hassle looking for parking, probably works out cheaper and also you can enjoy a few jars without any worry.

One of the beautiful Christmas markets in UK. Lot of shops and a lot of Christmas shopping possible. Every alley has shops well decorated. Feels like a different world.
